MarchingXylo Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Ya see... I just have a hard time buying this one... More than anything else, with many of the top groups... The Cavaliers, The Devils, Regiment, etc... I get a completely different presentation and projection than I do from Crown. And I speak less about the show concepts (although I do think this applies in that regard), but more about the general performance quality of the corps itself. I just don't think that Crown gives off the same "electric" performances I've seen from groups like Regiment, or the Devils. And to be totally honest, no matter how well they play (which I acknowledge, they do play well...) I just don't see them winning until they are able to really pull off that "electric" performance quality... ... I don't know... maybe it's just me... ... that, and I think this whole "breathe-dah" philosophy their brass section worships just isn't all it's cracked up to be... Quote
Jeffe77 Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Depends on how many vets are returning. If a majority returns, I think they have a good shot at the title if the perc section can up their placement from last season. Quote
FluteBoy Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Hey guys ... As my personal friend the Kool-Aid Man would say .... OHHHHHHH YEAAAAAHHHHHH! Quote
84BDsop Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Anything's possible...but making the top 6 is one thing....making the top 3 is another. When you have corps as consistent as BD, Caves, and Cadets, that's a touch nut to crack. Regiment finally did so, but they've never been consistently at the top. Then again, whoever thought - back in the day - that BD and Garfield would place so high and rarely slip down?? I'd rather not worry about Crown winning and just enjoy their programs. Quote
luvs me sum mello! Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 The key to championships is consistency. Crown does not yet have the consistency of staff, design, and membership to topple the handful of corps who do have all those things. Quote
ouooga Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Weren't people saying this last year? AND the year before that? Maybe last year, but definitely not the year before. But after 06, everyone was saying it about Bluecoats, and I guess that didn't work out. But difference between Bluecoats and Crown is that Bluecoats in 06 were more than 3 points under 3rd, and their show really felt like the top of their game, where as Crown was less than 1.5 from FIRST and personally, I felt that 2008 was not the absolute best Crown can put out. Just my $.02. Quote

Maybe this should be in another thread, but what does "breathe-dah" mean? Enquiring drummer wants to know. Quote
