bert0709 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 so i just got the " On the lot " dvd and it was pretty cool. but i just wish that it had more hornline stuff on there. it's just mostly drumline. don't get me wrong i love watching the lines in the lot but once in a while i would love to see a dvd with some actual hornlines. any one else agree? Stryfe Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 (edited) I'd certainly love to see some front ensembles in such things, as well as hornlines. But I can make do with batteries. Though what I don't like watching on YouTube* is warmups... Both hornline and battery warmups are all over YouTube* and it just doesn't interest me. And there's not many videos anywhere of hornlines playing horn book in an arc... I'm very interested to see that, but I can never find it. Plenty of drum book videos. Hm. Maybe it's a corps snooping around and keeping certain videos offline thing. Sigh. (* By YouTube, of course, I mean DVDs. I'd never use YouTube to watch drum corps stuff. ...) Rawtv_JohnChristensen Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 (edited) There are a lot of Horn lines in the DVD; I wish we added more however. There was one horn arc that was really cool but we couldn’t use it because the camera was too close and the sound got distorted. There is also one front ensemble coverage which was pretty cool and the DVD is over 100 minutes. I'm hearing good reviews and I hope DCI sells more. That way we can do a four disc set next time. :) John Christensen Edited January 3, 2009 by Rawtv_JohnChristensen Quote
Rawtv_JohnChristensen Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 10/10!! By Nick Eisenstein This DVD is really something AWESOME. I was waiting for the one DVD to come out that went inside and behind the scenes of the Drum Corps lot rehearsals, and this takes the cake. This New DVD from Christensen Media takes you inside the parking lot to give you a unique view of many different Drum corps including: The Academy, Blue Devils, Phantom Regiment, Santa Clara Vanguard, and Blue Knights, and giving you personal access to watch Colorguards, Hornlines, and Drumlines all show their talents. While watching it, you can tell the producers went above and beyond to deliver this great spectacle. I also enjoyed the Catwalk-Camera feature, in which you get to see the shows from straight up on the catwalk of sports domes. The HD Steadicam, Dolby-Digital Surround sound, and the Up-close, in-your-face photography makes you feel like your really there with the corps in the lot. This is definitely something you should invest in, and it’s a great show-and-tell tool. I give ON THE LOT a 10/10. Rick is 16 and a junior in high school and he plays bottom bass and hopes to march corps in the future. Quote
KCWolfPck Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I too was a bit disappointed in the lack of horn line video. However, what was there is pretty darn awesome. One of my favorite features is the video of the Atlanta show in time lapse taken from the catwalk up in the dome. That was top notch. Also, the video quality is what one would expect from a widescreen DVD. I have no idea why DCI can't release their yearly finals DVDs with the same video quality?? Quote

Rawtv_JohnChristensen Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 (edited) Don't forget that there is more Hornline coverage in the "extras menu" Enjoy :) Edited January 4, 2009 by Rawtv_JohnChristensen Quote
MGCtimp Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 How does DCI decided which corps to show? Quote
Rawtv_JohnChristensen Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 How does DCI decided which corps to show? It was a little of DCI but mostly the corps themselves. These are moslty corps we produce DVDs for. Quote
It's Godzilla! Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I've always wanted this kind of thing. The most memorable thing for me was hearing other corps warm-up as I did... I'd love a CD with Glassmen playing Lux Arumque, Bloo's pre-opener intro thing from Rocky, whatever pit exercise I heard coming from Bones and BAC... And especially signaure songs. Georgia, Rocky Point, Phantom's o4-07 medley they played in the lot this year... That's something I'd shell out a lot for. Quote
