Skylinersop16 Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Wow, late gate time. Better take a nap after rehearsal today! Quote
StarOrg Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 Well warm night in O-town. Show is moving along, only a tad behind, Trinity just came off the field and just saw Ced with Nastalgia Vanguard lining up. He said the corps had some good run throughs in practice today. From the looks of the scoring in Clearwater last night it should be close in every division for the Cups!! Quote
StarOrg Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 Another Southern Star Cup in the books. Thanks again to all the corps who came down to O-town and made it a great event! This was a record 46 corps in attendence. From what I heard the corps appreciated the catered Outback meals. Thanks also to the Eta Sigma chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi of UCF for all their volunteer work and help with coordination. Here were the score results: http://www.drumcorpsfantasy.com/dcpiapps/v...php?eventID=732 Gold, Silver, and Bronze cups were awarded for placements in each division. One note the Nastalgia Music Project made impressive showing with wins in Open and Class A and a bronze cup in World Class. Cups were also awarded for High Captions: World Class Gold Cup - Star of Jupiter Silver Cup - Florida Dragon Battalion Bronze Cup - Nastalgia Vanguard High GE - Florida Dragon Battalion High Music - Control High Visual - The Aztecs Open Class Gold Cup - Nastalgia Silver Cup - Eeclypse Bronze Cup - Mercury High GE - Nastalgia High Music - Mercury High Visual - Mercury Class A Gold Cup - Nastalgia Percussion Ensemble Silver Cup - Midnight Vanguard Bronze Cup - Green Machine High GE - Green Machine High Music - Truce High Visual - Midnight Vanguard Quote

Are they captions weighted at all? I mean, I know it's possible. My junior year in high school, my marching band won 1-out-of-3 high caption awards and still won. But winning 2-out-of-3, and finishing 3rd??? Quote

Yes we double checked the judges sheets..it happened. They were 4th in overall GE. Quote

It's just how the scores add up. You may have got 2 out of 3 high caption awards, but may have been lackluster in the 3rd caption and didn't place well there. Just my theory. -Wayne Quote
RockEuph Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 The Avengers were very pleased to finish in the top 7 at their very first cup as a world class corps Congrats to Star of Jupiter on taking home the big prize. Quote
