Last season the SSYAO faced much difficulty as The Challengers were unable to field a corps and Velocity struggled financially and competitively. Rather than folding both corps, they were merged and The Challengers name was retained due to popular vote. Even though many of Velocity's members have joined the ranks of the current incarnation of The Challengers, where they are considered vets, many Velocity alums were worried that their corps would be forgotten. However the SSYAO experience a boom switching to a new 3-corps model with even representation in all divisions and several other ensembles formed such as Avengers Indoor, Sunburst Winter Guard, and the SSYAO Cadets Marching Band, all of which compete in FMA. An SSYAO Alumni Corps has been on the drawing board for a few seasons and due to the current SSYAO expansion and overwhelming alumni interest we are pleased to finally field an all-age unit that will compete in CLASS ACT! And we are especially proud to announce that this corps will be taking on the name of Velocity! The corps at this point is 80 members strong and is open to Alumni of the original Velocity as well as those of Avengers, Challengers, Hurricanes, and even Overdrive and St. Pete Sound, The 2 corps that merged to form the original Velocity.

Velocity is Proud to Present their Inaugural CLASS ACT Program....
