  1. The old Comiskey Park - Chicago Milwaukee County Stadium Wimot Wisconsin Fair
  2. No Ticks Flag presentations Yes (Hey, I'm patriotic to a fault!) Concert numbers? Add a minute or two to the current show time G horns? (Piston rotor/2 valves/3 valves) Marching tympani and mallets? I'm leaning towards a grounded pit, but limited, due to damaging backs. Starting/ending line? Definitely yes
  3. Well said! I'll still go to shows, but will always long for the old days.
  4. How much of the gate do the open class corps receive from a "mixed" (world, open class & all-age) show? Am I wrong in assuming that only the world class corps get paid? If so, then the above example is a moot point.
  5. My corps only played six or seven songs, but I there was a lead french horn player in my squad that would pass out after about 80% of the shows in July and August.
  6. Thanks for the clarification! I entered the USN in 69' for eight years and was out of touch with DC during that time period.
  7. I agree, who says?
  8. If my memory serves me right, the Racine Scouts (chrome domes) did Iwo Jimo, not Madison.
  9. How do you know this for a fact? Maybe there are many, many, individuals out there that don't audition because they do not have the physical ability to march todays top notch drill, but have the musical playing ability. Not to mention the high entry fees. Maybe there are thousands of kids out there that could physically handle a military style rather than todays style of drill.
  10. I think DCI has been there for a few years now.
  11. 1965, seeing my first drum corps show in Woodstock, Illinois. Cavies, Royal Airs, Kilts, Vanguard. I was hooked. Marched from 1966-1969. Have loved drum corps ever since, but like an old timer, long for the old days.
  12. I was around at that time, and yes, they were by far the best guard to watch!
  13. Weren't shows longer when concerts were played? 13 1/2 minutes?
