2009 Heartland Military Tattoo

The Village of Hoffman Estates (IL) is proud to announce they will be getting their very own Tattoo, starting in 2009. No, not body art, but a Military Tattoo, one of the mainstays of festival entertainment in Europe, will claim a new home at the Sears Centre Arena on April 18, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. "This is one of the most unique and entertaining attractions available and we are proud to have the Heartland International Tattoo as one of the major events in celebrating Hoffman Estates 50th Anniversary", says William D. McLeod, Mayor of Hoffman Estates.

The 2009 Heartland International Tattoo Music & Dance Festival, is one of the premier indoor musical and pageantry events in the Midwestern United States. “Given its diversity of acts and a cast of more than 350 performers, this show makes a great family outing” said Heartland International Tattoo Executive Producer, Michael Th. Embrey. “There’s something in this show for anyone from eight to eighty.” Featuring an international cast of military and civilia n performers including 5 bagpipe bands, championship level brass band, US Air Force Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, Classic Cavaliers ALL-Age Drum and Bugle Corps, US Navy Band, international dance ensembles, percussion ensemble and precision musical and pageantry related acts, this is the ultimate in entertainment.

Fashioned after the world-renowned Edinburgh Tattoo in Scotland, the Heartland International Tattoo made its debut at the Northern Illinois University Convocation Center in April 2006. From its roots as a series of public military exercises in Europe, the Tattoo has evolved into a mix of pageantry, heritage and world culture. Considered one of the fastest growing live entertainment attractions in the world, Europe hosts eight Major Music Tattoos. The two major North American Tattoos have both been acknowledged as one of "North America’s Top 100 Events’ by the American Bus Association (ABA).

"The growth of Tourism from events like the Heartland Tattoo is important for our village," adds Linda Scheck, Coordinator of Tourism for Hoffman Estates. In addition to the Music Tattoo, there will be a Parade, British Car Show, and a Special Celebration of Hoffman Estates 50th Anniversary. "We are excited that our events will be the first major Tourism activity of t he year in the Midwest." The Heartland International Tattoo is the foundation for a larger series of events that will kick off the spring tourism and festival season in the greater Chicago area.

Beginning with the 2009 event, begins a multi-year commitment to the fan-friendly Sears Centre Arena and the Village of Hoffman Estates. The Heartland International Tattoo will also provide the foundation for a larger series of events kicking off the spring tourism and fe stival season in the greater Chicago area.
