In The News: Arsonists Start Fire Kidsgrove Scout Headquarters

Firefighters have been tackling an arson attack at the Scouts headquarters in Kidsgrove this morning.

Crews from Kidsgrove and Sandyford were called out just after 10.50am to reports of a blaze at an outbuilding in The Avenue.

Firefighters used one hose to the tackle the fire and Network Rail were also informed due to heavy smoke drifting across the nearby railway lines.

Station manager Andy Kinsman said: “The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and could have potentially caused serious problems for passing trains as the smoke was blowing across the tracks.”
