Edwin Beens Inducted In CGN Hall Of Fame

During last Saturday’s CGN Finals Edwin was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Color Guard Nederland (CGN). In a fully loaded Indoor Sports Centre in Eindhoven, Beens was honoured for his immense contribution to the qualitative and quantitative development of Color Guard and Indoor Percussion in the Netherlands.

Edwin has been the driving force behind the technical part of CGN for years. Since the Board of Color Guard Nederland was formed, he has been member of that Board, Chief Judge and member of the Technical Committee. His fellow members of that committee were the ones to nominate him.

As Chief Judge, Edwin yearly translates the WGI Color Guard Manual into Dutch and makes improvements and adjustments to the local Dutch situation. A good example of that is the promotion-procedure, which caused an extensive growth in both the qualitative and quantitative growth of CGN. Edwin is always willing to discuss with the groups and translate their ideas into to realistic adjustments of the CGN manual.

Almost all current CGN judges have been trained by Edwin personally. So even in this way he lands his mark on the quality of CGN.

Beens has been a judge for Color Guard Nederland since 1996. Out of the nine people that started the training the year before, only he and Brian Yothers have been judging each year for CGN.

Edwin also judges for Drum Corps International, the World Music Contest and Winter Guard International. He judged in the Netherlands, but also all over Europe, in the USA, South-Africa and Malaysia.

But above all, Edwin still enjoys every performance and he may well be the biggest fan of all groups in and out of CGN.

Color Guard Nederland congratulates Edwin with this induction.
