Thurrock Marching Brass Lead Remembrance Day Parade

thurrock_marching_brass_100x100With so much going on in our world, Sunday 13 November was a time for a full stop and reflection. An incredibly important entry in the TMB calendar, the young marching band and colourguard were once again asked to lead the Ockendon Remembrance Day Parade, which they did with the respect that such an occasion demanded.

Passing our founder, the late Dave Loader’s house en route, the Drum Major turned and saluted as a mark of respect. Standing outside was Dave’s son John Loader, who returned the salute as the young band passed. A moment that only a very few would really understand the full significance of, but one that means a great deal to everyone involved here at Thurrock Marching Brass. Remembering where you came from and how lucky you have been as a result underpins the values that define you going forwards. The values that we were all given by our founder live on in us and are being passed onto the next generation of member. Remembering in a respectful way is important.

Likewise, remembering those who gave the ultimate price to secure the free world that we live in, and take for granted today, entwines a respect and a value that should and does drive so many of us to keep their heroic and brave sacrifices in the forefront of our thoughts on this special of days.

Speaking of the event, Corps Director, Jay Lindner said “With an increased repertoire for the remembrance parade this year, and new members who have marched for the first time this weekend, I was a little nervous going into the day. I needn’t have been, as every single member who took part in this parade did so with the actions of older and wiser heads. From the moment they set off to lead the parade, through the service which was very moving and through the march back again I felt so proud of each and every member for such a brilliant effort all round. Our community can only really be called a community because of the actions of so many in times gone by, but as was said many times in the lead up and on the day itself, ‘we shall remember them’. I am so lucky to have such a great staff and support team and I would like to thank them and all the parents who helped us through the day to make it run so smoothly.”

Thurrock Marching Brass is proud to perform within the community as much as possible.
