I just typed up 2 pages explaining how I went from buying 30 tickets for family and friends for finals week in 2006 to just buying 2 tickets total for finals in 2010 But I’m tired of being called a complainer, tired of defending what I like and tired of this version of drum corps. The short; too many changes too quickly implemented, too poorly utilized that resulted in less entertaining shows. 2009 really killed a lot of interest with the combination of synths, the domes and boring shows. G-7 then killed off any feel good, do it for the kids, community pretense Last year at fianls I sat low to avoid the sound issues, as much as possible, in the dome. That was met with the Bluecoats amp blowing out my right ear which was then dead, ringing for the next 3 days. It seemed more than symbolic that a synth in a dome caused me lasting, physical pain that ruined the entire experience.2 points

I get to have some fun going up against Jeff on this one! Many Wind Instruments have been placed in the Percussion section by Orchestral Composers; but that does not make them Percussion Instruments, they are still technically Wind Instruments. Here are definitions from Merriam-Webster proving my contention: Percussion: The Beating or Striking of an Instrument; Percussion Instrument: A Musical Instrument making sound by Striking, Shaking, or Scraping. Wind Instrument: A Musical Instrument making sound by wind; especially the Player’s Breath. So if they are fine by you to be in the percussion section of a Drum Corps, it appears to me that you are you willing to accept "non-percussion, non-brass wind instruments" in the Drum And Bugle Corps activity. Correct?1 point

I fully expect it to lead to DCI to become more exclusionary to anyone not in the Super 8...and face it, they change the rules to keep others out any time they want...and it will affect the continued declining health of the junior side of the actvity in not good ways. Some of them have been preaching this best of the best stuff for over a decade. Oh and I get how negotiation works...tho it wasn't entirely negotiation. it screamed of hostile takeover. But hey if they win all of their goals, I hope the 8 remaining corps have fun1 point

actually....the idea wasn't a float. it was "this is what we want to do, and we want a decision".1 point

You really know if you want any credibility or respect in the world, it's probably not in your best interest to be calling people low self-esteemed cockroaches, mkay? Thanks for degrading everyone instead of answering some honest questions.1 point

I doubt you can attribute that cause to that effect in all or even most cases. So many of the extinction events came with full or nearly full membership rosters. This was true in many cases back in the day too. It's not that corps could not find members to pay the going rate. It is that the going rate was not sufficient to sustain the corps. HH1 point

Then how did the TOC shows get organized without DCI's approval? How come the TOC shows "coincidentally" include the G7? If DCI's BOD "threw the bums out," how come everything seems to be moving in that proposal's direction anyway? These are real questions.1 point

let's see...divorce rate isn't exactly low, and we see Congress's approval ratings. so tell me why this is a good thing?1 point

...Top 12 Corps in California after the second week of July. It rarely happens. It would be nice if the finals were closer than 2000 miles away every year. Cali.1 point

I'd give anything for my HS band brass section to sound like a drum corps brass section, and if it was Teal's, that would be fine with me (but I am a little biased). Do I want my entire wind section (including ww's) to sound like a drum corps brass section - NO! Should a drum corps brass section sound like my entire wind section (including ww's) - NO! I like my band's sound in the fall, and my horn line's sound in the summer. Go Teal - Nothing else matters!1 point

St. Patrick's Imperials, bass5 is correct, drum line and rifles in kilts. (drumline 71-73, rifles 71-72) And ajedrummer is correct about the color, the uniform is kelly green. (looks like some faulty film and/or developing in a couple of the previous photos) When they merged into the "Thing" the rifles wore black skirts with the same tops pictured below minus the kilt material coming over the shoulder. (drum line were still in kilts) The 1973 horns and flags wore the Thunderbolts uniform and the drums and rifles wore the Imperials uniform.1 point
