  2. My last two posts have been removed. My first was a poll asking if people would allow their daughter to march a corps because of some issues that have come to light (not rumors, but specific information in newspaper articles). That poll was removed. I then posted asking why it was removed. That post was then removed. Can someone please give me an explanation? I do not believe I violated any rules. If this gets removed, can the moderator who removes it please send me a message explaining what I did wrong so I can avoid doing so again in the future?

  3. There is a lot of pressure on Jeff in Santa Clara to bring back SCV’s tradition of winning. He has made significant staff changes in the last two years and I believe the 2012 program will have the potential to take the gold medal.

  4. You must also believe Bill Cook never helped out any drum corps except Star. You're incredibly wrong on this, Brian.

  6. So far, so good. Well, that didn't last long. Did it? Well, actually, you didn't say it until you just said it. But that's just my opinion.

  8. I think that ESOM is one of those 'magical' moments that should not be repeated: kind of like hoping lightening strikes twice. This piece was used to convey a very specific emotion relating to the theme of the 2011 show, and reusing it would likely feel like a cheap copy or something (unless the 2012 show is, say, a "sequel" to the 2011 show in which case ESOM mind feel like a great piece to bridge the two shows/themes).

  9. Didn't mean to upset anyone - it is funny whenever anyone puts BD as low as 5th, imo.

  11. Fathom Events is also presenting the LA Philharmonic performing Mahler Symphony #8 in February. An amazing piece of music and an amazing orchestra.

  12. I like teal. It's a neat color.

  13. I would disagree with the final comment. iTunes' is the model that FanNetwork is based on, at least in terms of downloads. Given the number of illegal Napster Finals recordings and bootlegs that were out there ten years ago, the effect on DCI's bottom line has been a net positive, even if they're allowing access through their own site rather than Apple's site. And for that, Jobs' idea provided the architecture.

  14. As great as that tune was as their closer last year, they won't reuse it on the field. The crowds will love it as an encore though!

  15. Lol is the best contribution you can make to the thread? The predictions you laughed at may not turn out accurate, but they are not unreasonable.

  16. I am FAIRLY certian that they will be playing it in 2012, as an encore piece though. Or atleast one would hope.

  17. I continue to be amazed by the BDB organization. Professional and Efficient. In my opinion, Rick Odello and Staff are THE best of the best. Cali.

  18. Removed Teal sound from sig. Cannot condone decisions of an organization that can't tell right from wrong, or follow through with its financial obligations.

  19. Wait, Photoshop is an Adobe product, not an Apple product... Pyware is NOT an Apple product.... Mr. Jobs was very successful at managing people; he was very business savvy.

  20. Haven't you guys learned that anything good will ALWAYS be dragged through the mud on this website? Geez, let the bitter, angry people be bitter an angry. It's their right.

  21. They probably don't allow "dutting" on the podium.

  22. Ditto. Spartans, 7th Regiment and Raiders are all class acts.

  23. Even if it's not an Apple computer being used in writing the music, designing the drill, or managing the front ensemble's output*, Jobs' and Apple's impact on those who are given those tasks was and is significant. He left the world a much better place than he found it. Best tribute any of us could hope for. ( * ...though I'd wager a majority of corps ARE using Apples and iPads for all those things )

  25. Why? Did the kid refuse to sing the praises of Ronald Reagan?

  26. Nothing gets by this group of people on DCP It its the same guy, I hope they do the right thing since it doesnt really fit with the "education" aspect of the activity we seem to hear from all the corps these days.

  27. I've never seen the show, but I haven't heard about any political agenda. Do they keep singing the praises of Ronald Reagan?
    1 point
  28. No because they avg about 3 points from first in those 4 years.

  29. While this is true, the competitive scenario at that show is hardly one that I would ever consider legit. Yes, some show scores have more merit than others based on several factors. Since my friends and I attended that show on our way to Indy, let me give a list of those factors: The stands were maybe 7 -10 short rows high. The kind of rows you can take in only one step. Spirit went on an hour/hours before Troop and Glassmen DCI notoriously has a show or two after Allentown where the placements get very wonkey....selling tickets and lighting up this discussion board. The judging panel had too many upset type judges The judging panel had too many questionable judges Full sun was in the crowd's and judge's eyes until the tornado storm took place The show should have been cancelled The judges were seen leaving with judging bags while the decision to cancel or continue with the show was deliberated They seemed really miffed to have to return to the press box/field Considering the hundreds of shows I have attended, judged, worked, and marched, this one takes the cake for most poorly run in one of the worst venues I have ever visited. Sorry to push so hard, but with DCI ticket prices these days combined with my love of the activity, I am probably yelling at DCI more than I am disagreeing with your point. Don't get me wrong however, I am still disagreeing with your point. Strongly. : )

  30. General predictions that very well may change in a few months: -SCV passing Phantom -The Cavaliers not medaling (as much as it hurts to say! :( ) -SCV medaling -SCV taking percussion -The Academy in Finals -Madison higher than 10th

  32. 1.) Cadets 2.) Crown (maybe in another year or two, they'll take the gold) 3.) SCV (big staff changes, big move up?) 4.) Blue Devils- anything lower would be stupid 5.) Cavaliers- New drill designer could be a slow start 6.) Bloo- maybe higher, maybe lower, new brass staff could change a lot 7.) Phantom- what can no JD Shaw mean for them? 8.) Madison- keep working the identity, and pleasing the fans 9.) BK- more crowd friendly shows, but missing something needed to move up 10.) BS- teething phase trying to find what makes them "them" 11.) Boston- No Jay Kennedy means a big hit 12.) Academy- Andre Feagin. 'Nuff said 13.) Spirit (not sure, just a slight step down) 14.) Glassmen (no room at the top) 15.) Troopers (need something to re-establish their "brand" while still being successful) 16.) Crossmen (starting to find their stride in the DCI world, look out for them in 2013) 17.) PC- consistent? 18.)OC corps 1 19.) Teal Sound- new director, but they've found their niche 20.) Jersey Surf- (making DCI fun again) 21.) OC corps 2 22.) Mandarins- they could really be anywhere from 17-25) 23.) Pioneer- need a lot of work, if they really want to make the move up 24.) OC corps 3 25.) OC corps 5 26.) Cascades- sorry guys, someone has to take the bottom spot

  33. I'll preface this by saying I didn't like Crown's show... That said, they sound good. They sound good moving, they sound good standing still, they sound good in an arc, they sound good facing back field, they sound good warming up, they sound good in leon may's crazy field coverage. Crown would sound good marching PR, Cavies, Cadets, BD, etc's show. They would straight up sound good. Period. They have talent top to bottom, a great instructional staff, and almost everyone in their hornline makes a good, dark, characteristic sound on their instruments.

  34. I predict over the next few weeks people will start threads here about rumored staff changes at many corps and over zealous DCP administrators will delete said threads calling them unsubstantiated.

  35. Oh dude, good catch!! Having said that, let me redo my top 12. Sorry Crown, didn't mean any disrespect. I love you guys! 1. Phantom 2. Crown 3. Cadets 4. BD 5. Cavies 6. SCV 7. Boston 8. Madison 9. Bluecoats 10. Blue Stars 11. Crossmen 12. Spirit

  36. I like that prediction! I'm also thinking Bstars may struggle. When you have top 6 talent and your design doesn't live up it can and likely will cause dissension. I'm not sure they'll drop from finals but they had big ageouts numbers.... I say they hang onto 11 or 12 but who knows maybe not. With the talent rising in Troop, Academy, Crossmen and Colts it's not a good time to see your placement move backward! Wes P

  37. I'm putting Academy in Finals, but I'm not sure who to take out. Blue Stars maybe. Cavies or Crown win next year. Devils 3rd Cadets 4th.

  38. I predict that the trend of experienced corps kids going to the G7 corps will continue, that the trend of the Top 3 perpetual medalists will continue and that the top ten corps will not change next season. I think the 11-17 corps will shuffle a bit, the best chance for flip floppling will be if a higher corps design fails next season and a lower corps steps up. Possible fresh face in the Top 12 at the lower end. I predict at least two negative votes for this post mearly because I mentioned the G7.

  39. Oh, I LOVE DCP!!!! I don't know how accurate my predictions will be, but FWIW I will play along! 1. Phantom 2. Cadets 3. BD 4. Cavies 5. SCV 6. Boston 7. Bluecoats 8. Scouts 9. Blue Stars 10. BK 11. Spirit 12. Colts

  40. Cavies are gonna bring it next year! Number 8 is coming for the Green Machine soon, I can feel it!

  41. Disagree. Having 40 ageouts, with a big number being from their best section (percussion), plus the huge drop from their high expectations placement wise, I think they'll really struggle to stay in finals. Blue Knights seemed really young this year and excelled. If they can avoid the usual exodus to BD and SCV, I see them really flying next year.
