  1. Yes. Right up there with " the worst "... those at DCI that looked over hundreds of possible cities, stadiums, for DCI Championships, and after considerable thought and reflection, ruled out lots of possiblities, narrowed the list down to a handful, them decided the best option would be............ Jackson, Mississippi.

  5. I think Sop/Trumpet players hear this and go "oh yea"….it just reminds me of my time in corps and band when the brass staff would give permission for a wanna-be young gun to "scream" or whatever you call it sometime during the show. It almost never worked, and the young wanna-be would, without fail, crack notes and sputter out some squeaks. The few trumpet guys on staff would always clench a fist and throw a punch into an imaginary foe's gut while the sad wailing took place. Hi fives all around.

  6. I agree Liz. It's only December and I'm already dreading going to Rochester. Annapolis was a two year breath of fresh air.

  8. It's not [iNSERT DECADE YOU THINK DRUM CORPS WAS GOOD HERE] anymore. Maybe we should do some things like we did before. Maybe we should do other things we've never done before. Those decisions need to be made with the current context of the activity in mind. The current cultural climate. The current economy. The current expectations of potential performers. The current expectations of potential audiences. Etc. Just because it worked in [DECADE] doesn't mean it would work today. That's a faulty assumption based on nostalgia.

  10. The Skyliners had their first full corps rehearsal yesterday. We had about a 75% return of members from the Open House. If we count those that we knew were missing, we have about an 85% percent return. We had a full day of marching, movement, sectionals and ensemble. As always, we close the rehearsal day singing our corps song. Here's a video montage of the day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW9litFgOUg&feature=youtu.be The forecast calls for Blue Skies!!! 11. Growing up Pageantry .... How do you explain it to people? How do you describe a summer on a football field or a winter in a gym? The people. The travel. The victory. The defeat. The sweat. The tears. The performance. The scores. Is it a sport or is it an art? What is it about the passion that captures our imagination and takes hold of our hearts? This blog is a look at the passion of the pageantry arts and the generations of memories it has created. .......and it's finally time for the start of the indoor color guard season!! Here's a direct link to this week's Blog posting from Paradigm! http://paradigmwinterguard.blogspot.com/2013/11/ode-to-end-of-marching-band.html
