  1. As one who has completed more than 70 marathons, and 30 Ultramarathons up to 52 miles, I would suggest your footwear question be answered by your local running store technician/specialist. Even though the above suggestions "might" work for you, ultimately the posters do not know what type of shoe best fits YOUR foot and gait i.e neutral, pronation/stability etc. Obviously you'll need a shoe that can withstand the rigors of the activity. So, head to that store, or several if available. They should be able to help define your match, be it # of mm of drop, stack height, stability control, etc. If you need an online reference for research: runrepeat.com. Don't ignore previous year models to save some coin! The store will try to sell you current year models, but you can shop for previous year models @ half the price. Also: GOOD SOCKS!!! Blister control, gold bond, etc. If ya need more running shoe ideas, pm me. Oh, stretch & hydrate like a boss.

  2. Feel free to stop reading it. This would be Hop's ultimate petty move #2 if true - the first being the attempted G7 power grab. It's never time to move beyond that. It was an unforgiveable stunt that ran counter to all the virtues DCI was supposedly about.

  4. Lance, Tes, X, Hockey, For the very same reason Lance can't reveal his sources, Liahona also can't. However, that being said,Liahona DID answer Lances question as best he could about the source at least by telling him it was a person with direct knowledge and by saying direct knowledge it is as direct as you can get. Think about what that means. As direct as the DCI source was, this source is equally and very possible more directly involved with the organization. More than a fan, more than a donor, more than a volunteer. What's left? A DCP troll trying to fire up a rumor? Or someone who is both ticked off and equally disappointed at what can be viewed as petty behavior. As far as logistics plays into this, it probably did. But at the same time it can be manipulated to appear that logistics came into it when a tour is planned with the initial thought of what shows not to do and see what shows can be included, leaving a show avoided. I am not saying this is how it came down, but it is plausible. You can avoid a show, by picking others and say, aw we'd love to have helped you out and done your show, but we are doing these shows. Gee, sorry. I get this may seem like speculation on my part and it is to an extent, but it is a plausible scenario. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I don't wear a tin foil hat, but I do have the utmost respect for the honesty of the person who made the statement about the "rumor" (and I don't mean Ghost). I believe it and had I not witnessed similar behavior years ago from another top level organization, I would probably be hard pressed to believe this "rumor". Fortunately, those wounds have healed as will these in time.

  5. Agreed. Also volunteer carrying anything and everything some one else has to lug at school and dorm, at work, at home, in the community. Excellent pre-tour prep for horn players for loading the truck, percussionists for loading the truck, and particularly front ensemble players who will regret that the arrangers have chosen more than woodblocks and triangles, ha, ha. Seriously, this sort of weight training on the cheap will teach you volumes about what your back and arms can endure. {You may develop negative attitudes about the necessity for visual props in shows.] And helping little old ladies at the grocery stores might even get you a sponsor or two. Stop drinking carbonated beverages now, stop smoking tobacco/weed or whatever now. Build your breathing endurance no matter what position you audition for. Limit junk food intake to treats rather than regular diet. Don't be the kid who has to lose 90 pounds over Spring Training to get a permanent spot. (Unfortunately, there are some big-name designers who would prefer only stick-people MMs for their show designs.) But don't skip meals or skimp on sleep. Be wise with your body and healthy with your choices. As of this weekend, you have only 150 days, give or take a week, until Spring training!!!

  6. For a ballad, perhaps by Cadets or Phantom, I think the following could be tightened into a very nice 2-3 minutes. But please, trust the music to stand on its own simple beauty - no interpolated Crown-esque runs to juice it up. Benedictus, from The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, by Karl Jenkins

  9. Get the widest hat possible and convince your percussion mates to get the same type since some sections wear similar clothing. Do to rosacea, I wear this style that Costco in the St. George, UT area sells each Spring. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sun-Protection-Zone-Adult-Unisex-Lightweight-Booney-Adjustable-Hat-100SPF-Olive/252609653216?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150313114020%26meid%3D6b784a99006643c29479d617568dc220%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D29%26sd%3D381639136485 Start exercising your legs.

  11. Well, they're not doing this for you. ( and it did come off as a negative comment). The other end of the spectrum is a corp like Carolina Crown, who started out in the lower division only to move up and eventually be a world champ. Yes, they were "mediocre" at one time too. If Genesis has the money and structure to do it, who are we to say they can or cannot do what they want?

  14. Well new visual designer and new visual caption head, so they'll look different. Interesting moves since I consider those to have been their strong suits by far the past few years, but each of the new staff members have very interesting and very strong backgrounds. Will be one to watch. Highest finish in over a decade after all... I hope they keep their approach they used in 2016. Was incredibly fresh, exciting, and so well put together. INCREDIBLY organic and seamless program. Markworth did the impossible and made an (mostly) all original show incredibly melodic, memorable, and exciting. Their color guard has been absolutely outstanding the past few years, I'm glad to see they maintained that aspect of their visual program. So many fantastic moments in their show, the highlight of which was that ballad arrival with the double sided flags. That kind of simple and incredibly impactful stuff is so cool to see. If I had some things to wish for, maybe a touch more exposure from their drumline and front ensemble, both of which were very good and I think could have been featured a little bit more. The uniforms read a touch muddy for me, but that's just my opinion. But all together, really exciting direction they took this year, and incredibly unexpected. Doing Texas proud, for sure.
