Spirit knocked out the crowd! What a great jazzy show. They are a corps on the rise. posted from the DrumScorps app10 points

Way to go Spirit! I loved their show from watching the preview video on YT and they have so much potential to grow. It should be a great season for them! Also this is my first post so that's fun, I wish I had a chance to see all these corps live but I live in Arizona so I'll have to settle for videos for the time being :)9 points

I caught SOA from the side. What a fun and well designed show, this is going to be a fun season for them.9 points

Boaton, I've lost my heart to you... What a fun, aggressive show. Step up from a great show last year. posted from the DrumScorps app8 points

<dino mode> I really hope the old uniforms are in storage somewhere -- it's not too late -- hornline/drumline switch back to the old uni's and keep working on the show - put some of the guard in the red costumes and some in the blue -- work up more features for the soloist (in a different outfit - pants - not a dress) - scrap the Cavalier's like narration at the start of the show --7 points

Had to come over here and say WELL DONE! Keep pushing through the rest of the season.7 points

My son said the corps is extremely excited about this evening....fully knowing, however, it's just one contest with a partial panel with a long way to go. That said, they are certainly off to a very nice start. They compete four nights in a row starting Saturday night in Allentown...their only such stretch this season.7 points

DCX is a lot harder to navigate for me. I loved how corpsreps gave you ONE table with the selected Corps, years, final placements and scores, show titles, and reps. Sometimes old school is still functional.7 points

The level of character The Cadets have shown with everything they’ve had to endure, is nothing short of amazing. I salute you.6 points

Partial panel or not, this was obviously a very good showing in their first show of the season for Spirit of Atlanta. As I stated a few pages back on this thread, I have been hearing some good reports on them this off season. Tonite's surprise though was their topping Madison. Not sure if this says more about Spirit of Atlanta or the Madison Scouts. Perhaps it says something about both at the moment.6 points

The past two days of rehearsing in Newark, OH saw numerous changes (that were planned) in both music and visuals. Hang on...this machine is just getting started! ps A lot of Bloo fans tonight and Bloo alumni...all excited to see Spirit back in the mix of corps that might be performing on Saturday night. Go Spirit. I didn’t expect it. I didn’t predict it in the Prediction contest, but this is the kind of surprise that I wish Drum corps had more of. posted from the DrumScorps app6 points

This is very much not important to anything. But I since I am just a nerd for numbers and organization, I wanted to try and organize the scores for all world class corps. I've just organized the scores into who's corp they belong to and color coordinated each show to show what area of the country they were performing and who was head to head. Also have who won their respective show high lighted that in red. Just thought it was fun to see the score progressing over each week and the number of rehearsal days in between each of their shows. I was probably gonna update this every week if this interested anyone but if not I'll just enjoy it myself Enjoy the rest of your Thursday!5 points

SOA not too long ago was a top 12 performer...does not surprise me in that sense...but WAY TO GO for them...a VERY good start indeed...5 points

I’ve said how I really feel about the Scouts show on my Facebook page but I’ll just say this: Sticking this talented young woman behind a prop for half the show is not the direction I would have taken.5 points

Is this the Bloo vocal soloist? If so, in COMPLETE agreement. I am not one for voice in DC, but if your show is going to have it, THIS is how to integrate it. Not overdone, not overbearing, stylistically spot on, and superbly executed. It just "belongs" -- not like most every other use of voice I can think of that seems grafted on, or cheesy, or just plain "roll the eyes". She never overshadows the corps, she enhances it.5 points

The fact that 3 more judges aren't there does not invalidate the comments the corps will receive from the 5 that are.5 points

I saw their dress rehearsal video. the show looks good, if they can clean it up they can move up this year. looks like a good vehicle5 points

This MCDC mom wants to thank the amazing people with Phantom for helping out when our food truck broke down. My all time favorite Corp (let's keep that a secret lol) helping my current Corp family.5 points

I saw their send-off show performance from a week ago earlier tonight, and of course I saw tonight's scores. It's hard to believe this is the same corps that almost didn't see the field just a couple of years ago due to some major financial problems. Shout-out to the people who have been running and reviving the organization for the past 2-3 years. You guys know exactly what you're doing.4 points

Checking the recap, there was no doubt by judges - ordinals 4s all the way across.4 points

Dry Cleaner from Des Moines is my favorite song of the tour so far. Yes it’s likely because mellows pretty much carry the song but DAYUM that sounds like so much fun to play live! By the time this gets to finals it’s gonna be rocking!4 points

let's face it one corps wins and everyone else is "maybe next year" finals is huge for corps to achieve the first time, you get that huge Saturday performance - no one is going to care ten years later if they placed 7th or 6th or 4th IMO it's about how great a time they had, friends/memories made4 points

This..... we are seeing the future. I am convinced this is the 2018 champion. Even this early there is not one moment that feels functional and every moment has an effect.4 points

Not sure if there's a nomination for that 'win the day' part of DCP, but I'd like to nominate Karuna for today's award.4 points

I'm more worried about the hoodies than the color of the guard unis. The uniform is regal and the hoodies look sloppy. A comparison would be wearing a baseball cap with a tux or formal gown. Just doesn't fit. Some of the hoods cover the eyebrows (like the helmets), others show the forehead, some show some hair and others fall off completely in the middle of the show. No uniformity. I get it that PR is trying to 'keep up', but certainly there is a better way to do that.4 points
