  1. Also a nice way to welcome back alums who had been pushed away by prior leadership

  2. Exactly! I'm just happy they have an anniversary to celebrate!

  3. A lot of alumni have been cranky for years that Hopkins prevented them from ever producing a high-quality alumni corps performance, especially after the great job both Star and SCV did with theirs. So here is an opportunity to now do it, with a milestone that is reasonable (85th). If it had been 83rd, it would be rather ridiculous, but it's a perfect time, with the overall fresh approach the organization has. The alumni will be jazzed and money will come pouring in. I have friends who are already all excited about it and hoping they will be able to participate.

  5. The original proposal is to have a new touring schedule for the year 2021 which includes the West Coast. The objections do need to be taken seriously, especially the issues involving costs. The objection that the current system is working is valid in some ways but does not make as much sense in others. Some shows are profitable but at some shows the revenues are down and some show sponsors have decided to call it a day. For me, the “This is what works, don’t change it” can be practical, but refusing to change it may be a huge missed opportunity. A West Coast regional right off the bat may be too ambitious, but planting the seeds to see if they grow makes sense. Calculated risks can be worthwhile.

  6. I did as well. '88 was my "I'm taking a season off" year (in truth it was my "What do you mean I'm cut?!?" year.) That show always appealed to me as accessible and fan friendly.

  7. In 2009, the entire 1969 Cadets guard was inducted into the corps' hall of fame. A nice touch!!!

  8. My older brothers marched with Little Falls that final season for the corps in '68. One went to the Manville Crusaders for the 1969 season. The other joined a more nationally-known organization called the Air Force.

  11. well....i agree. But...how many active drum corps can say they are in their 85th year? That's ###### impressive

  15. Very misleading characterization of the situation. He took the extension as a temporary fix thru this summer season. The season is over and they have an executive search well underway

  16. I personally enjoyed Shanefield's work this year. I think Bocook's style matches the Blue Knights better. Bocook's writing for the Cadets was starting to feel stale
