So I was looking at pictures of IWU's stadium on their website out of curiosity, and guess who made a cameo on the track behind the new stadium...5 points

If the victims remain silent, no one will know. Perps of this sort know this. Usually, they'll say something like, "no one will believe you" to reinforce the silence. That's why this remained buried for years. What makes me sad is this stuff happens over and over again with more people than just GH.2 points

If a person is doing what GH did in secret (obviously), and as they happened none of the victims ever made a report, then there would be nothing a background check of any type would uncover. There needs to be some sort of public evidence for a check to uncover something. Esp going way back to the 80's, my guess is those victims were horrified, ashamed and just unable to come forward. Heck, they did not come forward by name as early as this past January. That has to change, and if the @metoo movement does anything good, it is a chance to change everybody's approach to monsters like GH.2 points

I sent him a card and told him DCP was thinking of him in his time of struggle 😂2 points

It’s so clunky. I give up after three or four pages and tell Jim to look at it for me.2 points

Some Items of Note: July 13 is the first date when all 22 World Class corps compete on the same day. The others are July 20, July 27, and August 8. Excluding the impact of Oregon Crusaders & Pioneer, there are a total of 26 fewer World Class corps performances in 2019 than 2018. The average number of performances per corps in 2018 was 26; in 2019, it is 25. Boston Crusaders decrease the most from 30 to 25 followed by Blue Knights (27 to 23) and Crossmen (28 to 24). Music City increases the most from 21 to 24. No other corps increased by more than 1 show. The Cadets will appear in the most shows at 30 followed by Blue Stars and Bluecoats at 29. Seattle Cascades will appear in the fewest shows at 18 followed by Jersey Surf at 20. Blue Knights is the final 2019 finalist to debut on June 28. Last year’s medalists will compete head-to-head for the first time July 16 in Broken Arrow, OK. The best June indicator of potential placements will be June 29 when all but two corps are in action (Jersey Surf and Seattle Cascades). For anyone interested in seeing a grid version of the schedule with total show tallies by corps and date, you can access it here.2 points

what they were able to accomplish, on the fly, from late April til the end is amazing. There never seemed to be any danger of them not being 7th early on, but as time went on and more things Cadets history/tradition got added, it gained a little more momentum every day. Then, we got back east and the ick hit the corps, that seemed to light a fire under them. I've been to almost every DCI East/Eastern Classic since it started, and some performances stand out as special. 27th in 80, BD 88, Cavies 93 in the rain, Phantom 08.....and Cadets 18. It was like that week, everything started to click, fueled on by not just the hometown crowd, or fans supporting them because of the mess, but because from the ballad out, that was good old fashioned kick ### Cadets that made everyone love them. I only wonder, if they had been able to have 2 more weeks......2 points

I think you mean Harvey Weinstein. To the best of my knowledge, the only thing Michael Feinstein has been accused of is making cheesy recordings of Broadway hits!😊1 point

The entire old website was much better. As for 2019, Winston-Salem and Flo for me. Maybe Lexington, SC. We'll see, I'm not a huge fan of driving four hours round trip for a 5 corps show.1 point

Wes was the Dean of Drum Corps Announcers. Standing on the starting line as he gave your corps' introduction was an uplifting experience. At that moment, he made you believe you were the most important people on the planet. You were what was happening. The confidence boost was palpable. It takes a special individual to achieve that. Wes Hobby was a Drum Corps giant.1 point

I got one for 20 bucks from the Wal-Mart near where I think GH is near. 20 more bucks buys you enough minutes to call a Legal Firm. The Wal-Mart people were extremely helpful. Now, I'm in the textin' when I'm still and hands-free Phone while drivin' era. God Help us all.1 point

Sad news. I first discovered Wes Hobby’s voice listening to LP drum corps albums in 1965. Had never met him, but he seemed to be a part of all the major event recordings. I needed to have him! Years later, I had the good fortune to hire Wes to announce our Allentown event. I remember my initial telephone call to his home. I knew right away that was Wes on the other end of the line! It was surreal for me. Cool thing about Wes, he could also speak French. Came in handy with Les Diplomats and other Canadian corps who made the trip to Allentown. We had a good time during those earlier days. May he Rest In Peace.1 point

I like seeing where they have rehearsal days for layering the show but it is a pretty steady flow of shows. Eat em up Boston.1 point

It doesn't seem like a mystery to me. The fact that he called attention to himself in every other way but stayed quiet about this one thing suggests he knew how very wrong it was.1 point

Holy mackerel, that is quite a stretch to say the least!!! "My grandfather was an Army Air Corps pilot in the Pacific theater during World War II." "Oh... so he's the reason we have nuclear weapons!!!" LOL1 point

I saw in the news arcticle that the TOC Is at Akron Infocision. Yet, within DCI’s schedule, the Aug 5th show is Massillon. BTW - I was hoping that DCI would improve the user experience for their schedule - NOPE . Their old schedule format was much better.1 point

RIP Michigan City. Decent stadium in a terrible location, and trying to have a 15-corps prelims there was just an exercise in frustration. Bring on the new digs! Mike1 point

Maybe they prefer to teach students less likely to be inculcated with the kind of arrogance and pomposity that considers much of the country inferior, as humility is an important factor in developing the kind of work ethic necessary to actually achieve great things?1 point

Too bad - new Ames Field is one of the best venues in all DCI (old Ames not so much. But I was there in 1980 when SOA supposedly broke the window in pressbox. But that is a different story).1 point

Maybe I’m remembering this wrong, but I’d gotten the impression from some posts last spring that the old board was perceived by some as being more or less a rubber stamp body for GH. If there were any truth to this, it would certainly put that contract (and it’s associated severance package) and his subsequent resignation acceptance in a rather interesting light.1 point

Fortunately, last season I think has given us a pretty good idea of what they will be able to accomplish in 2019.1 point

with this being the first year without the influence of a certain somebody, i can't help but be extremely excited for hopefully some fresh ideas, whether they be from a musical or a design standpoint! I hope that some details start to come out soon...this is really one of the worst times of year to be a drum corps fan.1 point
