I mean, if you’re not moved to tears seeing these kids smiling and excited after finishing their show... a current fourth place show... then you just don’t get it. Winning is cool, but getting a standing ovation at Nationals 30 seconds before the final note, that’s what it’s all about.

It’s 11. I think I’m going to shut it down. I have Rhythm in BLUE tomorrow morning so a good night’s sleep would be a good thing. I AM covering Finals tomorrow, however, so we’ll get together one last time and celebrate our activity. See you then!

Premature decapitation

What should happen is Dan should come on after Academy and apologize, specifically stating that Spartans won their title because they were the best Open Class corps out there.

The thing these kids and staff should take away from this year, scored be ######, is that this show is changing Drum corps once again. Guy in the hotel lobby just was with his 3 buddies, one of whom is a BD fan. Said he watched the show last night thinking “this show has to be off the chain to live up to the hype we have heard”. When it was over he said it was BETTER than he was expecting. Said “they seem to be reverting back to old school but are still so innovative”. Said he saw lots of cool MARCHING and he loved the minimalistic but highly effective props. Said comparing BD to BC is like apples and oranges and if BD don’t win it will be because the Beatles music is more accessible.

Well, whoever wins tomorrow night should put an * behind it because Star of Indiana isn’t here this year.

Just back from Crown rehearsal... the are loose and confident (or to quote Mr. Harloff... Crown Cocky). At ensemble today they were on FIRE! As Sean Mac said to cheers "WE ARE NOT DONE!" It's a semi finals show day... LET'S GO CROWN!!!

Just visited a standing room only overflowing Starbucks decked out in full BD. Four people came up to me and said they never saw BD until last night and every single one said they were speechless when their show was over! Never saw anything like that and far and away the best of the bunch were just some of the Things i heard. I told each and every one of them and anyone within earshot that if they want BD to win, they are going to have to give them LOUD support, throughout the entire show, to counter the Bloos. And i think we should give a standing O for the ballad!!!

Welp BD, you been here before, don't worry about who is on the panel and who isn't. Don't leave it in the hands of the panel that's apparently against you. Go out do what you do that's consistently better than anyone year in year out and title number 19 is yours.

SCV, I still don't understand a single bit of this show but ####### it is one of the best musical shows of this year

Typical Crown show for me personally. June - mehhhh....kind of boring Beginning of July - Well that's nice Middle of July - That's really really nice!! End of July - Boy that's great!! August - Holy horn line batman!!!!

Crown staff member up here got so excited, he ran up to the edge of the section in front of the stairs and started jumping up and down, yelling and screaming. usher would have pulled him back if she wasn’t in her 80s. He MIGHT not be allowed back up here tomorrow. 😄

This is probably my favorite drum book in drum corps history. It is the complete antithesis of a typical drum book. Not a ram-fest, just incredibly musical and additive to the brass score and the ambiance created on the field. The bass drum writing in particular is written in a way that highlights the dynamics in the tenors and snares even more. Bravo to Jackson and team. Also major kudos to the guard staff and performers. This guard has performed a full 180 in a year's time. I remember watching in past years scratching my head over questionable design choices, but this year I simply can't take my eyes off the guard.

Best of luck on venturing into a new frontier Madison Scouts. I hope you can find your way competitively again, but what a spirited performance to end an incredible era. Audience reaction and your faces say it all.

So excited to be at my first show at LOS! This Crossmen alum will be sitting up high with the Bloo crew in 642.

Blue Devils have the best show on the field in my opinion! Although I want them to win by several points, in truth whatever happens on the judging panel will not change my opinion. This year has brought several shows that really appeal to me. BD, Crown, Blue Knights, Cavaliers. But none stun me and bring tears to my eyes like this BD show and its phenomenal members. Thank you so much to the designers and performers, and to everyone involved with this fantastic organization.

I was expecting to have added something at the end where they just stand in a line. But I loved how the drum major reacted at the end. It was clear how proud of them he was...and I'm sure those kids on the field took notice of his reaction. That kind of thing just fuels their drive to do even better on the next run. Crown was the favorite in my theater tonight.I noticed three or four people in seating below me that jumped on that opening hit, and a guy behind me that let out an audible "Jesus!" I thought they would overtake SCV tonight. But the margin isn't that far. What did they add that they didn't have before? I noticed only a couple of things. All in all, I can see them catching SCV in the end.

Blue Knights are like bathing in musical goodness. I 💕them.

The Bloo fans i know on DCP and have met in person are very classy and respectful to all corps including BD. The people that boo tomorrow regardless of who wins are a bunch of jerks and losers.

I'm laughing so much at all this "tomorrow is Bloos panel". I heard the same thing in 2015 for Crown (and this is coming from a Crown fan). If Bloo doesn't hit it lights out tomorrow they're losing it.

If this goes on much longer, I’m switching to crack.

Is this the part where Dan points out that had BDB and Vanguard Cadets been here, some of these people wouldn’t have gotten a scholarship?

Posted this another thread. Just another impressive feat by our beloved Devils. If BD cracks the 98 barrier, it will be the 15th time they have scored 98 or higher in a season. Every other corps in world class history have scored 98 or higher 14 times........COMBINED.

I have never seen a guard this good. That was phenomenal and flawless. The guy playing David is just fearless and amazing. They deserve a perfect score in guard.

And bravo to the 4th tenor! Joining that late in the season and hanging with them at that level is bad ###.

Perhaps the DM should have replied: "Does your career deserve an asterisk because Brandt Crocker is getting too old?"

Two thoughts, questions really: 1. Do Spartans have enough time before their second run tonight to change their final set to an asterisk? 2. Do the Spartans wanna be that petty? it would be epic but yeah...probably a bit much. Take the high road Spartans.

I'm already awarding Mandarins a full extra GE point for covering up that ugly giant white Colts football helmet right in the middle of the field. Best use of a tarp this year!

WTF Spartans. Where did this season come from? You've been solid before in the two decades I've been watching you, but never THIS rock solid. That show was incredible.

I was at the theater last night talking to some DCI fans and understandably most of the people there were BD and SCV fans since I'm in the Bay Area. I was wearing my BD sweatshirt with my Cavaliers jacket (with my ring 😉) and so clearly that was a conversation starter. What I get from people is that either they love the BD show or they turn their nose against it and CHOOSE not to understand/enjoy the BD shows because of some reason or another. Some were just plain ignorant as to what the concept of the show as about. The people in front of me were telling me that they love DCI and that this was their first time seeing all the shows that wasn't on YouTube. They knew so much about all the shows except for BD's. After the BD performance, they were literally speechless! They all turned to me and told me and my friend that they felt stupid for not following this show throughout the season. They loved absolutely loved it!
