  1. I love that this positive thread turned into the usual endless #####ing almost instantly. I am looking forward to many threads this season turning into the usual endless #####ing almost instantly.

  2. or then again, it might have been the announcement of Caption Heads manning recruitment booth at BOAs in Indy as of then. I'm tending to agree with what Continental posted Sunday in response to your original gossip titter: "I'm really sick of this "I've got a secret" crap on here. This corps has been through hell lately. Enough with the innuendos."

  3. yes only 4 shows doesn't match Cost Benefit Analysis. With only Spartans, 7th Regt., and Raiders as current East Coast Open entries until one zips down 23 hours to Heat Wave in Fla., not alot of options besides Firemen's parades. On the other hand, Casper, Wyoming Troopers began touring due to the dearth of drum corps in their area in the '60's; DCI was the eventual consequence.

  4. I’m not saying this as a positive or a negative so don’t jump in my ####. 😂 I had to take my car in for maintenance yesterday and had a wait at the dealership. I brought my iPad and EarPods and jumped onto flo for a few minutes. Purely as an observation, the prop phenomenon is not going away. If anything, I expect to see more if the fall band season is any indication. And I think it is. Kind of like how they try to guess what kind of flu season the northern hemisphere has by how it was in Australia.

  5. The last time it was explained to me, Open Class corps do receive an appearance fee during the first part of the season where they appear at shows with World Class corps. They do not receive an appearance fee when they split and do the Open Class tour the second half of the season.

  7. But just like anything one can turn it off, go for a walk, hit the bathroom, get a hot dog etc just remember it's all just opinion and there can be many ( and should be ) Never think your barking ( not you , in general )will change much or expect it to. For every opinion for or against something people can find just as many opposing " Opinions "

  8. Four opportunities would be too few, but sounds realistic to me. I spoke with someone last year who told me traveling to the two New England shows (Beanpot and East Coast Classic) was a future goal, but not an immediate, and the same was true if there was an OC show in New Hampshire. It costs money to travel. If they did decide not to compete anticipating the 55+ rule, this is a responsible decision. Telling the kids there will be no season in January would be wrong so you have to respect the decision. Getting a corps off the ground is challenging as we all know. It’s probably about ten years now, but I know of two separate attempts by some talented people to reestablish two local corps in my area. Even with some of the best, it did not work. It’s not impossible as we have seen with some of the newer OC corps, but it’s a challenge.

  9. Lucas Oil Stadium would be the venue. Great exposure for the DCI folks who have had little, if any, experience with the DCA product. If true, I can think of three Class "A", and three Open Class Corps that could/would (no brainer for a score on DCA sheets) make the trip this year for the August 8th date. One, Kidsgrove, would already be in town. There would be no restrictions as Terry Schehr alluded too. Additionally, a phenomenal recruiting opportunity for Age Out's, and those who are using a DCA program as a spring board into a DCI Corps. Regards, STLDRMN

  10. Don’t think all corps get the goodies so manufacturers can use them in ads...

  14. So hello all. Bush announced their 2020 open house details today. To be held on Sunday, December 1. Not denying I've seen/heard/read things have been a bit messy in Bushland recently, but it sure looks like someone jumped the gun on the obituary 😁

  15. I'm sure they are waiting for various license permissions to go thru...especially on the video end. Last year the CD was released for sale early November, but the year before it was around Thanksgiving. And preorders for the bluray were around December. I still think that the video is going to be delayed, and when (or if) it finally gets released, there will be more cuts and edits than ever before (negative Nelly, sorry). I can't imagine what a pain it must be for DCI - sitting waiting for each sync license and mechanical license to go through, waiting for confirmation or denial for each tune used, and no idea as to when it all will be finished. I know this is the RIGHT thing to do on DCI's end, but its frustrating to say the least for them, the corps, the staffs, and the fans. I wonder if in my lifetime all of this copyright debacle will get resolved...I'm 51, so probably not. lol Anyone miss the days when you received the 6 volume DCI set of Vinyl records in early November, and then the Video tape set of the top 12 from Video Express right after! 🙂 And they were all pretty expensive for the time...I believe the Top 25 VHS set in multicamera sold for around $175 in a three tape set in the late 80's, early 90's!

  16. Angry faces and growling in drum corps should be banned. Stoic faces while performing angry and intense music, fine. Faked angry faces doesn't sell me anything.

  18. As long as we don’t fall into the “well I was able to do it BITD so what’s the problem now” I’m fine. And that goes for anything.

  19. Did community college and state school to afford it in the late 70s. Look at the cost of doing that now and whole different (sad) world. Just no comparison

  20. You forgot the word "rich" as in "rich college-student activity" with drum corps tuitions at the $5K mark annually and non-State school tuitions above $50K annually before room and board.

  22. The statue of limitations laws have dramatically changed from state to state regarding sex abuse really because of the Roman Catholic abuse scandals years ago. A lot of priests got off based on previous laws because of that flaw. But they are changing and rightfully so. To me these cases should be treated like murder cases. If you rape someone there should not be a time frame of abuse especially if children are involved.

  23. Hey Hop. You’re done. You’re out of the activity forever, regardless of what happens in the courts. Your name is crap in the drum corps activity. You lose.
