Denise Bonfiglio addressed these issues at a staff meeting this past weekend at the January camp in Salem New Jersey. Since I am not authorized to divulge specifics, I will say that all your concerns (and more) were addressed and details will be released in the next few months. I do think you will be pleased with the future direction of the Cadets9 points

Actually, for the first time in years (maybe ever), the Cadets have a plan and they are not just kicking the can down the road!6 points

Great post. Most of this will be covered in the upcoming announcements. Specifically, question 2 .... SO I will not comment. 1. All Campaign Donation Contributions to The Cadets go directly to "The Cadets". And ONLY "The Cadets". 2. Drum corps budgets can not operate on member fees alone. That's impossible for even the tiniest corps. Donations, fees, contracted sponsorships, performance fees, inventory sales and additional revenue streams all contribute to the yearly budget. Every organization involved in DCI deals with the struggle of balancing the costs of touring and operations against budgetary needs. No one is kicking cans at The Cadets. At every turn, I've experienced nothing but open communication and a clear plan for how to meet those needs. 3. Cleaning houses always involves new blood taking up the torch. New Admins, New Directorship, stronger planning, better organization, fiscal responsibility and clear communication when necessary and needed. Your questions are valid and require answers. Those are coming, but not from me.4 points

I was wincing when they asked the members to describe the show themes . BD members were on point and those poor Cadets kids had no idea how to describe it. I wouldn’t have either. The show theme was first “Stoned”. Then it was “Awakening” . Then it was “Statue Awakening”. Then it was “Awakening” again. I thought about getting stoned and having someone awaken me when it was over.3 points

Why is this bothering you so much? You aren’t forced to read it. And I see nothing in here that’s irrelevant or any worse than in other threads such as Cadets. If you have new good information to share, share it. Versus trying to shut down other voices. Which is what you’re doing with the - go start a different thread - thing.3 points

Which is why sitting high up at the Allentown venue is the best place for today's DC. In spite of the "supposed" design of the shows for indoor and video consumption, the sound indoors is still poor from my "audiophile" point of view, even the videos. These days, high up outdoors is the place to see and listen to DC.3 points

Let me preface this by saying my wife and I have been M&G Club Members for what seems like forever. Although we did reduce our donations towards the end of GH's tenure. From reading your post and in keeping with the "house" analogy,I have a couple of questions. 1.You say the Cadets have a "specific budget". Does that mean they have funds on hand, including dues when paid,to cover the tour costs in full or do they know what they intend to spend and hope to cover those costs ? If it is the latter, and funds don't equal the budget, what do they do ? 2.Exactly how are the "front of the house and back of the house" "connected" ? Unless I missed it,I haven't seen anything explaining the current relationship, financial or otherwise , between YEA and The Cadets. After all,if the back and front of the house are connected, and the back collapses,so does the front. 3.I'd also like to know exactly what "cleaning the back of the house means". I'm concerned that the Cadets are just "kicking the can down the road". Get the corps on the road for anther tour, regardless. I wish YEA/The Cadets would be a little more open about their financial situation, especially since we keep getting requests for donations. I would like to know how our donations are being spent.3 points

I didn't say I wanted answers the second I wanted them. I just wanted to know they will be forthcoming and in a reasonable time. Based on M.Ryan's response to my post it seems like that will be the case.2 points

We certainly have a lot of people suddenly interested in every detail of the cAdets audition packet/registration was $200 with no camp fee; the Texas attendees get the audition packet and camp for $50 a great deal2 points

Thank you for the clarification of my post, you obviously understand what I was trying to convey. In my very first post on this thread I said I do not post on forums but the negativity and false rumors being spread about the Cadets is getting to me and I feel compelled to try to quell some of the false statements being made.2 points

I agree - the past 4 years of drum corps have been a living example of The Emperor Has No Clothes - Devils and Bluecoats realized that because the sound basically sucks inside Lucas Stadium, the only solution is sound reinforcement - Without actually stating this as the justification, all the corps entered a sound system war to the extent that the actual sound of a drum corps is now so completely messed up, it only sounds good on flo marching through your home AV system -- Critics of these innovations are shamed or threatened into silence by the enlightened elite who silence any diversity of opinion by branding their opponents as dinosaurs or craven anti (creative)evolutionists. Corps who should have known better and sided with the traditionalists were too afraid of not being cool and made their own weak attempts at entering into the electronics war. So now we are at a point where rules need to be formed to set a fair playing field. I'm particularly ticked off because I can't enjoy seeing a show live any longer unless you are sitting high - if you are low on either side, the sound is entirely the speaker stack nearest to your seats -- this is crap and the designers know it. One idea might be to limit amplification for indoor venues where the sound reinforcement is actually helpful - outdoor venues do not need amplification - The electronics race has lead to the design mindset that this is an indoor activity or a performance intended to be recorded and viewed online - is that really the direction the elite want the activity to go? Seriously, Bluecoats, Blue Devils -- is this what you want?2 points

Had a great day with the Cadets yesterday. There is huge difference between the perception created by DCP and what is actually happening with the Cadets.2 points

I've heard talk about 2022 proposals. There are loads of suggestions out there that the committees will be exploring. Stuff I liked: Pistol start Pistol stop at about 10 minutes and judging stops ... then all heck can break loose for another 90 seconds. 1 throwback piece of music I'm down with the traditional uniform1 point

So when are the Cadets going to announce they are coming under the umbrella of Inspire Arts and renaming the corps "The NJ Junior Crusaders"? .....kidding...I'm just kidding.......it's a joke..... 😛 Hope the Cadets have a successful re-boot under this new leadership and a successful 2020 season.1 point

I’m not saying these discussions should cease and should be swept under the rug I’m not saying that at all. What I am saying this should be happening in a different topic/thread. Is that so unreasonable? If so please explain .1 point

What happens at camp and on the competition field are important and are a result of what happens in the board room and front office. The Scouts will continue to tread water or sink further if the major problems they have there are not addressed. It's important to be able to have civil conversations about these even if we may disagree.1 point
