This thread has become exhausting. I fully expect this simple comment will prompt an insult.8 points

The Cadets have had conversation with UPenn and that was only a one year situation in 2018 because of the then immediate situation.4 points

Cavies 2004 is still one of my favorites. I watched that show for my superbowl halftime entertainment.3 points

Nice first post ever, man! I don't remember my first post... it more than likely went something like "WOOOOO! GO CAVIES!!"2 points

George didn’t create The Cadets, but he created that mission statement. I guess that’s why I feel it should go and I have been saying this since he was fired.2 points

Or a DCA competition? Or any drum corps competition? In light of some Superbowl-inspired confusion online tonight about which state Kansas City is located in, I thought I'd check to see if Arrowhead Stadium, where DCI held its championships in 1988 and 1989, is in Missouri or just across the border in Kansas (it's the former--but DCI has held events in Overland Park, which a Kansas suburb of Kansas CIty, MO). Upon reading the Wikipedia entry for the venue, I learned that it's the 27th largest stadium (by capacity) in the United States. And that got me to wondering: which are the largest stadiums in which drum corps have competed? Meaning any show, not just championships. Here's a list for reference: List of U.S. Stadiums by Capacity I see the Rose Bowl is listed as 11th, with a capacity of 90,888, and I know that stadium has hosted a number of DCI events. Which others in the top 10 or 25 or 50 have also done so? According to a different Wikipedia page, there's only one other stadium in the world that holds more people the the largest U.S. stadium: Rungrado 1st of May Stadium in Pyongyang. Maybe DCI should encourage further deescalation of tensions with North Korea by presenting an event there?1 point

Read your statement again. Regardless, I'm moving on from this argument. It's pretty miniscule.1 point

On January 3, 2020, Bergen County Prosecutor's Office confirmed allegations I made in a public meeting in Midland Park on December 30, 2019, that the murder of Jackie Harp has been "exceptionally cleared" on the basis of serial killer Richard Cottingham's confession. https://dailyvoice.com/new-jersey/hackensack/police-fire/lodi-serial-killer-confesses-to-1960s-bergen-schoolgirl-murders/781365/1 point

Me too. 1989 was my first viewing of the Cavaliers, and still one of my absolute favorites. Mike1 point

Was told this over the last 2 weeks by 2 different people. One who is with the Cadet's management team and the other a member of the US Bands administration. Do not think either was joking.1 point

Looked it up . . . . that was John F. Kennedy Stadium, commonly know as JFK Stadium. Capacity listed as 103,000, and VFW Nationals was in Philadelphia for 1969. (this old mind needs a little time)1 point

There was once a massive (over 100,000) stadium in Philadelphia that I believe hosted VFW Nationals (1969?). Can’t quickly remember the name, but I can tell you, I was once given a tour there by local Convention and Visitors Bureau officials when searching for a DCA Championship site back in the 1970s.1 point

I've heard from someone who would know ( Surf admin) that the Surf has taken over a Cadet show, this may be the one and it quite possibly will be at Rowan in New Jersey.1 point

Last year when the announcement was made that Madison was going co-ed, there was a discussion either here or on FB that Madison members might move at a higher rate to the only all male corps left. I think by seeing the actual numbers that is happening. As a long time DCI fan I feel like Madison made a mistake. And only time will bear that out. And I hope I’m wrong. I’ve been a Madison fan since I was 12 years old ( 1975). Still watch that show once or twice per year.1 point

I’m excited to hear their music this year. I like Will Pitts but never thought his arrangements were right for Phantom.1 point

2006 is also one of my favorite shows...hands down. My all time favorite is still their 1989 show Gloria. That show holds a special place for me. I decided to march Drum Corps after seeing it. And BTW...I miss the "classic uniforms" of every corps : (1 point

I May not have any talk in this thread, about all this brand new situation. My honest opinion is, if your going to start fresh, JUST start fresh! simple. With that said, i agree with George Dixon, Mission Statement should also be change.1 point

HA! and thanks. I've actually been following on DCP for quite some time. You guys have given me some very, very interesting and spirited reading over the months. I thought my OP was the least controversial thing I could share and a good way to "test" the waters. Y'all can be a little scary : )1 point

Sorry about that 🙂 It was my first post ever. I guess that info might have been helpful. Thanks Ghost!1 point
