The generosity of others at this time is inspiring. I walked into the bank wearing my mask and they gave me a LOT more money than I asked for.7 points

So, I can virtually name those guys you were speaking with in 1990. Eric G was the DM. Jimmy C was the contra section leader, and those two "Old School" baris were most likely the Dorchester/Milton boys...Chris H and Matt R. For the record, Jimmy C is now the President of the Inspire BOD and Chris H is none other than Christopher Holland, Exec Director of the Boston Crusaders. Hmm.....interesting...no?5 points

Well it looks like I have to wait until next year to cheer my head off. I was so very excited to see what the corps could bring in 2020, but the Coronavirus put a stop to that. I still believe the corps will keep rising and gain more fans in the process. GO CAVIES!4 points

1989 was one of my favorite seasons. I was teaching and on the road with BAC that summer. I think they came in 17th...not bad for only 40 horns! And, if my memory serves me (it WAS over 30 years ago after all), I have the distinct recollection that Boston was on late at night in semis, wedged right between PR and BD. I know this sounds preposterous, but I am 99% sure that's when we went on. Anyway, the corps was very tight and extremely clean that summer, with a very visceral vintage Boston show. It was a pleasure to teach them!4 points

I marched Freelancers in 1989... we had a chip on our shoulder that season, and were a veteran corps having only lost a handful of age outs from the previous year. The 1989 corps had practically grown up together for the two previous seasons, and after going back and forth with Hutch in 1988 we were battle-tested. '88 was a fun year and we had exceeded expectations, but still felt a little dissed after placing 15th. '89 was much more focused. We started the season strong, but made some major changes after first tour, which included moving pieces from the front of the show to the back half the show. The hornline was on fire towards the end of the season, at one point beating Cadets. Our finals show was Meh... I think we were all exhausted and just happy to have reached our goal which was making it to Saturday night. But I still think our best show of the year was Semifinals. Just so much #### energy, we left everything on the field that night, and the crowd was really into it. I wish I could find a copy of that semifinals show.3 points

That Freelancers opening lick for E.T. was pretty sweet. Unfortunately can't find it on YouTube. Plenty of stuff for other years, though. Oh my gosh! Madison and 'Make His Praise Glorious!'3 points

Test results finally came back this morning (10 days) as negative. Now we have to get Britts doctors to release her to work from home. They keep saying they don't do that and we keep saying "Just calling the state and saying 'my test results came back negative...trust me' isn't going to fly." You put the quarantine in place and wrote the paperwork, write a new one. Doesn't exactly take Wile E Coyote (suuuper genius) to figure that s### out folks.3 points

Sooo I see this in my newsfeed today. https://www.usnews.com/news/business/articles/2020-03-29/instacart-workers-seek-strike-as-jobs-get-busier-riskier I read an article a few days ago that saline spray may be good to use to avoid the virus. Today, I read this. https://www.news4jax.com/health/2020/03/25/allergy-experts-questioning-nasal-sprays-due-to-coronavirus-concerns I don’t know what to think anymore. Have a nice day.3 points

Question to my fellow BD honks........what is more important to you, BD getting the elusive three peat, or continuing their insane run of top 2 finishes, which now stands at 13 in a row. To put this into perspective, the 2021 age-outs would have been 6-7 years old last time Devs was third or worse! All the other corps might get an occasional title here and there, but let's keep it 100, like it or not its BDs world and we are all living in it.3 points

I loved the freakishly scary sheep and dancing aliens myself!2 points

The Frack, awful as it was, would not have changed things....the point differential between BD and Cavies was too much to begin with, even if he'd nailed it like at prelims. BD would still end up in 4th.2 points

The flaming eyed clown achieved creepy factor 9.5 lol. That's some funny ####. And happy belated birthday!2 points

Funny how memory works. I don't remember what I had for breakfast this morning but I remember this: First: Pacific Procession, San Jose State Last: Rose Bowl, Pasadena California Best: Warhawk Stadium, Whitewater WI Worst: (by far) Atlanta Braves Stadium. I almost tripped over the pitcher's mound.2 points

I dont see it as unpopular, it's your opinion and I respect it. I would say that since 2014, BD has gotten alot of love and has been entertaining. I am basing that on the 2010-2013 years on DCP. Anyone who was around back then remembers how volatile it was for BD and anyone who supported them.2 points

I can only go by where I played with my beloved corps, not the first corps I was in. First: Legion Field Weymouth, MA Last: Malden Stadium? Malden, MA Best: Alumni Stadium, Boston College Worst: The baseball field in Pittsfield, MA, with the pitchers mound in place still.2 points

They entertained the hell out of me last year, AND I wish they would have nabbed a silver!😂2 points

This might be an unpopular opinion; but I would rather have the Blue Devils entertain the h**l out of me than win a title.2 points

1989 I was working in downtown Minneapolis. That July (Aug?) there were a couple nights of shows (Stillwater and Blaine?). Anyway at lunchtime the second day, Phantom did a standstill at ... NSP Plaza I think was the name of it. On the Nicollet Mall. NSP was the local utility which today is XCEL Energy. Anyway imagine standing mere feet away from a 1989 PR standstill at lunchtime in the middle of downtown Minneapolis. With all the curious onlookers. I was completely and totally blown away. To this day it’s in my short list of all time favorites. Even over 2008. Their take on “Going Home” with the baritone solo at the end. I can close my eyes and I’m there again.2 points

I know lol. And she has to go back to the state building to get her "state approved computer monitor" (though we may just buy a new one.) The good news is, I finally found a use for ye' old scanner/copier/color printer that I had in the attic and never used. She needs one for her work at home setup because apparently the state is still stuck in 2010.2 points

I enjoy a discussion like this, but have a problem. Although I was very active all around the country in 1989, at my age . . . I have trouble remembering much of it accurately ! 🙂2 points

So much different and sometimes conflicting information out there. Whenever I hear anything I go to Google to see who reported it and if other non-affiliated news outlets are reporting the same thing. I have friends who get their information from Facebook - some of it is really out there. Whenever I hear anything from them my first question is "Where did you hear that from?" When they answer "Facebook" my first reply is that they might want to check if the same information is being reported anywhere else. I live in an area that has a high number of positive cases and a lot of senior citizens so when I go out to the local grocery store I make sure to wear a mask and gloves. I see a lot of people doing the same thing. I was in line at the cash a few days ago and noticed they put social distancing markers leading up to each cash. The woman 6 feet behind me saw I was wearing a mask and remarked that I was wearing it wrong - I was wearing it correctly (funny she wasn't wearing a mask). She then told me that the best face mask is actually a maxi-pad. I replied "I won't be doing that." Yeah, I saw the photo posted last week of a guy in China doing the same thing.2 points

Yeah maybe Americans will learn thru this we don’t have all the answers NOW and will have to adjust as events occur. Really hope we learn that we’re not that special. IOW if something is hitting the rest of the world it’s not going to skip us or things will be different here2 points

Can only imagine what the Bloo and Blue design teams will come up with now that they've been given an additional year to "tweak" 🙂2 points

Those are stupid rules. It counts as a three-peat if it occurs in three competitive years.2 points

YES! 😁 with either, i'll still be happy. Yes it's BD world indeed, that is how it is like it or not. Any group going for the gold have to rise to the occasion and best BD. Even when BD don't have the most popular or liked show , or having a challenging year, they are still dangerously great. That says alot about a group. That is just one point out of many what made it BD world.2 points

First (half show exhibition) Carlisle PA high school 1974 (DCW has it for sale in Jim Jones collection). First competition: Amhearst MA last place by 30 points week before DCA (corps first show in 2 years) Last stadium J Birney Crum Best stadium: Christy Mattewson Bucknell Univ. Lively crowd that you could really feel. Worst stadium (small one) somewhere upstate NY with horrible lighting and press box had windows so dirty you couldn’t see in. And local politician giving welcome speech was drunk off his ### Worst stadium (big one) New Orleans SuperDome 1978 AL Nationals. You can probably hear our show still echoing. Could not hear the rest of the corps for the echo, you had to watch feet going backfield1 point
