  2. Well look at it this way... 1 - Office staff (salaries, tax, benefits) and rent on your building with utilities. Maybe you have vehicles etc on leases too? 2 - The tuition/dues that were paid up until the season was terminated this year and the amount of fees you already spent to pay the bills since OCT/NOV 2019 that you will not get back when you are allowed to hold those fees to pay for that members 2021 season (with 2020 fees). Without show fees and if you run (one or more) DCI shows in the summer, along with "feed the corps" kind of fundraisers and souvies. Corps are going to have to really scrounge to make it work. That is why each corps annual campaign is every so important now.

  3. What great memories. Dr. Baggs was a good soul.

  4. OT... Dr Baggs was actually a percussionist in his younger days, primarily a timpanist. Became band director at Bergenfield HS in NJ (was Don Angelica's band director), and then principal at the Roy Brown Middle School. He attended my senior recital in college. I was a percussion major, and Bernie Junior was a very good friend. Bernie and his now wife (and flute major) participated in my recital doing some ancient fife and drum pieces. I invited Dr and Mrs Baggs of course, and they both attended.

  10. I saw Phantom early in the season and thought they had a good show. Didn't see them again until NightBeat. Stopped by their souvie stand before the show and in talking to the PR folks they said the show has grown and improved. That was an understatement though they didn't win on this night. But what a great show it became.

  11. Good comparison. Sufjan Stevens definitely overlaps into the chamber pop portion of a venn diagram. https://www.allmusic.com/style/chamber-pop-ma0000012300

  13. I remember hearing Dr. Bernard Baggs say how much he loved that show musically. The drill was insanely good. The two together were really tough to pull off. Lots of blind moves. My favorite was what I called the rotating Micky Mouse head. The sopranos were playing some amazing stuff at running tempo at the far back of the formation. Not good staging. You couldn’t hear half of the musicality of the show due to staging/form construction.

  14. I have a small 5 watt solar panel attached to the battery which serves nicely to top up the battery during the day, if parked outside, of course. No need for a battery conditioner with the solar panel and its portable with no need for a 120 v power source. Of course, booster cables are standard equipment for cars in GWN.😷

  16. Phantom did a great job with it by finals. It was pretty rough developing through the season though. Marcia Hanson was legendary on the podium.

  18. A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop-a-wop-bam-boom. It appears that corps have never played anything by Little Richard, who died today at the age of 87.

  19. I was hoping Tricia Nadolny would be selected. Perhaps next year. Because of her reporting I suspect at least some assaults that would have happened did not happen.
