Sis and I have been calling my current Bichon a Jr Boxer or midget Boxer .... 😈 Background is our family had 3 boxers (1 at a time) over the years and sis had one of her own. Lot of stories that ended with “didn’t know to laugh or kill the #### dog” 😫 Boxer #3 hiding behind the tree when time to go in comes to mind. “I’m calling and getting scared because I don’t see the dog. Then I see that brown head peaking around the tree”. 😖

I was in Atlanta for a business meeting way back in the late 80's. In a bar/restaurant outside of the city I was having dinner and playing shuffleboard. One woman sitting at the bar overheard me talking, turned to her friend and said "Oh, a d**** Yankee" and went back to her drink. 😀

I don't think many of you have figured out that the more people talk about the man, the more fuel and attention he gets. The more people read or are still invested in his social media the more it feeds the beast. Many think they know this man BUT if you truly did, I mean really know, You would know he feeds on the attention. You wanna hit him hard? IGNORE him in every fashion. He always believed with Cadets, " AS LONG AS THEY TALK< YOURE STILL RELEVANT " Well those who feel the need to follow him, quote him, give opinion you're just feeding him. The case needs to be followed but there's one way to drive the guy nuts, IGNORE HIM. He doesn't care if anyone says bad things, good things , true things or not, His rants are only attention getters and IMO you're just giving him just what he wants.

Yes, SCV's guard was announced as the winner. Spirit of Atlanta was not 8th, but 7th (still on the second sheet). Spirit's guard had the highest guard scores at every regional that summer, except DCI East, where it went to SCV. The drum major of SCV Jeff Pearson and I talked a few years ago about the incident... he had to give the award BACK so that it could be handed to us. Since then, I've cringed every time DCI announced a caption or a placement incorrectly.

You've probably seen this cartoon before (there are multiple versions in circulation), but just in case not: I agree with you that everyone deserves an equal opportunity. It's a question of what equal opportunity means. Or as Martin Luther King said in a 1967 interview: "it's a cruel jest to say to a bootless man that he ought to lift himself by his own bootstraps". And I would expect that this question of defining equality is part of what Cadets are considering.

In 1990 I was on our annual Fall Field Tour of Duty with a military organization whose HQ's is Faneuil Hall. We were in Cannes and having some fun at the large casino. From the craps table, about every 15-20 minutes, some of our well lubricated members at the main bar would start singing O Canada. No Americans got blamed that night.

Vincent DeRosa ! For many years he was the "first call" French Horn for virtually every recording requiring that instrument. In 1980, it was my great privilege to produce the outstanding Brazilian guitarist, Laurindo Almeida. It was to be the very first release on the new "Concord Concerto" label, an offshoot of Concord Jazz, and the score called for a chamber orchestra. Vince was the hornist at the session. It was all done live. I had never produced a classical date and knew I was in 'way over my head. I needn't have worried around these pros. The record scored a Grammy Nomination that year. Here's a little taste. Vince has only a few notes here, all in support of the guitar, but they positively sing. The best example from this movement is between 5:05 - 5:20 or so: What a career Vince has had, across so many genres ! A "player's player".

Only time near him was a good taste. Gettysburg Brass Band Festival show and Cadets and Crossmen were exhibition. Zack Jr gave the Cadets intro... and went on for over 5 minutes.... people around me were muttering “it’s not about you”. But of course they didn’t count. Fell sorry for corps members standing there waiting to premier their show.

Is Zack Jr still getting any attention except for fb and this thread? Zack Jr as GH reminds me of my sisters boxer she rescued. As long as he got attention he didn’t care if you were praising him or screaming at him. Had that same goofy boxer look no matter what, he just knew someone was talking to him

And again...yes and no. For the same reason we have slotting now in a way that didn't exist in 1985. So in the 80s, you could see a 1st place corps with a 9th place drum line ( and we did). Today? Can't happen. Even if the corps were identical today as they were in the 80s. The difference, in my opinion, are the advent of ongoing " meetings" with judging panels on the "correct" way to judge. I call this one " The Michael Cessario Effect" - sorry Michael I love you buddy. I just like the phrase. What some may call " uniformity and consistency" really is just brainwashing by people who control paychecks and housing/travel expenses. We see this as self evident when we see four general effect judges carrying far more weight than hard talent more objective categories. Judges should have been left to just judge the way they saw fit based on their expertise of why they got selected in the first place and left alone. A well experienced brass /horn DCI expert in no way needs to be "educated" on how to judge brass. An opinion. But a bit stronger on my part.

Another obstacle is worry that the vaccine is not a permanent solution and we might need booster shots. But we might not know that until time has gone by and we see what happens. As for flu shots, when we switched doctors the new one (about half my age) would only suggest if the shot matched the strain going around our area. My wife had a suppressed system so some years doctor suggested she not get the shot.

There will be a vaccine by Jan 21. The question is 'How effective will it be?' Perhaps we should all contact our Congressional representatives & have them pass a law that all Drum Corps members, staff, & fans are to be in the first group to be vaccinated so we can have a 2021 season. & while they're at it, add an amendment that states 'Any school that receives federal funds must allow Drum Corps to use their facilities in the summer months.'

July 9, 2002, 12:30am ET - Tour Day 47 Ogdensburg, NY → Allentown, PA We had a long day of rehearsal, 8 hours in total today, because we were housed at the show site and performed last in the show. The show was delayed due to rain. As we started our show, it really started to come down and by our ballad, it was absolutely pouring. The harder it rained, the more into the show I became. The crowd also showed their appreciation for the performance we gave under such adverse conditions. It was a fun show and we impressed some people, too.
