  1. What difference does it make if she truly cares or not? All i know is she is introducing more people to DCI thru her channel. I personally know someone that follows her channel that didn't know DCI even existed before the vids started popping up on Courtney's channel. Now she is binge watching DCI shows and is looking to attend a show once we get past COVID. And for that i salute Courtney. Maybe she cares, maybe she doesn't, just keep bringing more eyeballs and relevancy to DCI. Keep doing your thing Courtney.

  2. based on the amount of shows she has put up, she's not in a higher tax bracket. And if she cares, she cares. She has stated she would like to attend DCI Finals when it's back up and running, and she's getting eyeballs beyond us to see drum corps. the pros outweigh the cons

  3. Agreed. Been fortunate enough to visit nine different cities in Australia. Never got to NZ. But love the accent. And for the record, i do believe her reactions are genuine. But at the end of the day, she is introducing DCI to her fanbase and some are now paying attention to drum corps in ways they never would have if it wasn't for her.

  4. It seems genuine to me. I don't think she's a graduate of the "Ali MacGraw School Of Fine Acting." I could listen to that accent all day. Something about the Aussie/New Zealand accent that is so nice.

  5. Many of you remember back in 2015 when The Cavaliers got hit pretty hard. They cancelled out of the Atlanta show and only performed a standstill at Nightbeat. I hosted them for a couple days after the Nightbeat show before they went on to Annapolis and Allentown. Our facility was only a few years old and we had the ability to quarantine 38 marching members in a separate auxiliary gym and quarantine separate showers. I am proud to say they left with only a few members that were still sick. This may be one of my proudest accomplishments as a FMM for the corps. Unfortunately, not all schools have multiple gyms and multiple shower facilities to accommodate a "Quarantine" and as Jeff Ream mentioned, this can compound beyond imagination.

  8. She's adorable and "likes" Drum Corps just like we do, so who cares? Who else is promoting the activity right now?

  9. I use the cheap Walmart 12-cup "Mr Coffee" imitation @$10.84. Or should I say the "Mainstays" brand to sound more elite & sophisticated? When it wears out in a few months, I just recycle & purchase a new one. I usually drink 6-8 cups & went without yesterday morning. Felt bad all day; that won't happen again.

  12. I have found very few K-cup coffee brands that taste good using a Keurig. Dunkin Donut's Keurig cups create colored water. McDonald's Keurig cups create colored water. I ended up getting reusable cups and buying ground coffee. That made a difference.

  13. i have thought all along any attempts to have a season without a vaccine is flirting with danger. Granted, if there is a vaccine, all corps and personnel will be fine. The audience is a different story

  14. Just to clear up things comparing the past to 2020 was not the original intent of the thread. Being a history buff I often think of past events when something new hits. Was just trying to fill in some of that past. carry on... nicely 😜

  15. Right now, that is true. That is why we are cancelling events here in 2020. But that is not what I was asking. Continental asserted that something you said elsewhere is germane to this thread (or what Continental believes to be the "objective" of this thread, still unstated). So far, this thread has been asking whether drum corps shows, or appearances of individual corps at such shows, have been impacted by disease concerns prior to 2020. So far, the answers show that individual corps have taken a sick day on occasion, and one corps had to take several such sick days in succession... but no entire events have been cancelled on that account. Of course, no other drum corps seasons have had the kind of pandemic/quarantine situations that we face here in 2020. So if anyone thinks drum corps history holds some sort of profound relevance to the challenges it faces today, they will have to be specific.

  16. I would love to visit Australia one day. People there seem so interesting. I have a friend in Sydney. I know there are internet memes about spiders the size of dinner plates there, but after awhile I felt comfortable asking him... "Mark, do you have those large Huntsman spiders in Sydney?" His reply....."Funny you ask that, I was watching TV a few days ago and saw something moving out of the corner of my eye.....it was a Huntsman that had gotten into my apartment and was crawling on the floor..." He had to get a newspaper and sneak up on it. He said he would have tried to scoop it up and let it outside but they apparently move very quickly and can easily hide. I don't think knowing it was still in the apartment would help me sleep. He assured me they don't bite, but somehow that doesn't make me feel better. I reminded him that when I visit he needs to make sure his apartment does not have any Huntsman spiders.

  17. Once we have an effective vaccine, if all corps members and staff are required to be vaccinated, it seems like tour might actually be a safer place to be than wherever they would be if the season has been cancelled.

  19. Add The Woodlands, Flower Mound, and Round Rock to your list. 6A State Finals are every other year (rotation for state finals here), but if Texas could come every year... BOA Finals would look very different. The programs here are wildly efficient and the kids here are trained and compete at a high level from MS through HS. UIL gets grief from time to time, but the system does create wonderful programs. My opinion based on... well... my opinion. 1. Texas 2. Indiana/OK 3. California 3. Florida 4. IL/MI/OH/KY DCI actually has a member survey that maps all of this our every year, along with out great info for them.
