And another way of looking at it is... what is it now?
Latest rolling averages are 785 deaths vs. 58650 cases, a case fatality rate of 1.3%. Considering that in mid-April, it went as high as 7.5%, this is great news. To think that without a single vaccine or therapeutic FDA approved for general use, we have still improved our response to the virus that much, is astonishing.
Now we move into the next phase. Remdesivir just received full FDA approval yesterday. Other treatments are in the pipeline. We will drive that number down even farther.
I’m more than willing to be confrontational, but this is not the place. Like you, dans, I have become disappointed here more often than I would like.
I just never found pessimism attractive. Too depressing.
You can google it if you want. Might not hurt. But your reply does prove you don't "know it all".
Great news about the warm temps.
Stay Frosty Oscar Mike.
Honestly, I was just wondering. I wasn't trying to be confrontational or imply anything. But thanks for reminding me why I visit this site less and less.

No doubt that for those ages noted above, the survival rate is higher than 97% its probably more like 99.9%.
Actually, according to the WHO, the survival rate is around 97%.
From the WHO dashboard: 41,570,883 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 1,134,940 deaths, reported to WHO.

I spent nine years in Japan. 1997-2000, 2002-2005, and 2009-2012. Six of those years in Sasebo, three in Yokosuka. I can tell you from experience, Japan is very expensive.
Ok I misunderstood the intent. That’s twice yesterday I did that... my bad (again).
and as long as we can avoid the partisan finger pointing I have no problem.
Good thing those youngsters are not contagious..... guess my college age nephew should have visited his grandfather when he (nephew) caught it.
And I’ve been told no guarantee the nephew won’t have lung issues later in life. His case was that severe.
