Just an aside: Those CW brass bands are the direct ancestors of what became Drum Corps in this country. Search out some of the re-created music performances using those instruments and you'll hear that: Eb rotary cornets playing the melody, where lead sopranos would later establish their territory: Outdoor brass and percussion music survived the Civil War. It'll get through the pandemic as well.

I WAS THE HORN INSTRUCTOR FOR CAVALIERS IN THE 70'S WHEN MIKE JOINED. At the time, the corps consisted of mostly the remains of the early 70's and late 60's hard-### diehard members of the "green machine" IMEE- IRON MEN OF an EARLIER ERA. Mike boo was such a difference to us that we embraced him as an intelligent, humorist, drum corps geek that the members were not familiar with on his level of integration into the corps. His individualism was accepted unanimously in both the horn and drum lines even though he seemed such a square peg in a round hole. Any confrontation would often result in a humorous and logical explanation that often left members encouraged, smarter and amused at the same time. Since then ,I had only seen and talked to him a few times, but it was always a great experience. even though I haven't been involved in DCI or DCA for some time now, he will always be one of the people I will always remember as a friend.

OK. Who's taking bets on the topic of that 10-9 and 1 abstention vote? - Marching parades using authentic civil war brass reproductions? OR - Doing a DCI All Star Drum Corps flash mob for the virtual Macy's Parade next Thursday?

I am hopeful for the 2021 season. I miss DCI a lot... shoot, I am stuck at home due to quarantine and all I'm doing is sitting here and watching old marching shows. While it's helping, it just isn't the same. Hopefully we can get this figured out. I need to cheer for the best corps during the summer.

Had the wonderful opportunity to talk with michael at Open class in Michigan city 2018, my 30th and final year on tour. He did an interview with me as I fixed his Concert Euphonium. When we were done he asked how much I said nothing , talking with you with your wealth of knowledge was more than enough. He did by the way go across the street to DQ and brought back Cones for both of us. What a wonderful person RIP Mr.Boo RIP
