  1. Theres some who do but Wow! There has been many over the years who I may have wanted to say that to ( Thankfully, most are gone from here because it was more of an argument for them than concern about the activity ) BUT you have been a gracious contributor...and thank you

  2. Had the wonderful opportunity to talk with michael at Open class in Michigan city 2018, my 30th and final year on tour. He did an interview with me as I fixed his Concert Euphonium. When we were done he asked how much I said nothing , talking with you with your wealth of knowledge was more than enough. He did by the way go across the street to DQ and brought back Cones for both of us. What a wonderful person RIP Mr.Boo RIP

  4. Bottom line is that you were ( are ) never a rude contributor and very honest of what you know and like you just said, NOT pretending.. Ignore the Troll!

  5. I love the idea, but I keep thinking we have lost a bit of the magic that makes shows like this so memorable. I would prefer to keep this on it's own as something so many appreciated. This is from 28 years ago. G-bugles, no electronics, so much melody and 1 prop (just a large beach ball that looks like the planet). The show personifies the idea that the total is greater than the sum of it's parts. Imagine 28 years later and so much love for this show. It would be nice if every show had the same effect.

  6. Fixed the first line because it's not just those threads that get shut down. The activity requires a lot of planning and support. It needs to generate significant revenue to support itself. A full season generates that kind of revenue (famous last words I know). I can't help but think aiming to produce "something" will be much more expensive and not produce that revenue - further jeopardizing the survival of many corps. As for the label "Bubble" mentioned in another thread....three thoughts come to mind: 1. Mr. Bubble (fun, sudsy) 2. Boy in the Plastic Bubble (heartbreaking, sad) 3. Hamster Ball (just don't let it reach the top of the stairs)

  7. I WAS THE HORN INSTRUCTOR FOR CAVALIERS IN THE 70'S WHEN MIKE JOINED. At the time, the corps consisted of mostly the remains of the early 70's and late 60's hard-### diehard members of the "green machine" IMEE- IRON MEN OF an EARLIER ERA. Mike boo was such a difference to us that we embraced him as an intelligent, humorist, drum corps geek that the members were not familiar with on his level of integration into the corps. His individualism was accepted unanimously in both the horn and drum lines even though he seemed such a square peg in a round hole. Any confrontation would often result in a humorous and logical explanation that often left members encouraged, smarter and amused at the same time. Since then ,I had only seen and talked to him a few times, but it was always a great experience. even though I haven't been involved in DCI or DCA for some time now, he will always be one of the people I will always remember as a friend.

  8. I just read it myself. Hearing both Jade and hitting up 1989 Phantom reminds me how much I miss that sound. Rest easy, Mr. Boo. The world was better because you were in it, and we have an immeasurable hole to fill now that you're gone.

  10. Michael would post on here all the time. Always positive. So often hilarious. He had such a wit. I did not know what he was going through up until yesterday. I have just read his Facebook postings and he seemed at peace with what he was going through. That made reading them so much harder. I remember his dedication to his brother, sometimes mentioned on here. Let's be kind to one another. We don't know what everyone else is going through.

  11. Michael Boo was a tireless promoter of the activity, always enthusiastic in his writing for DCI's program notes, liner notes for audio recordings, and the DCI website, including, of course, the famous recap analyses. He was a valued participant in these forums and his self-deprecating humor was always a joy. Memory eternal.

  12. I know it has been a bit since I posted (I haven't felt myself for months due to the lack of DCI and I have been busy because of work and school)... but I had to take a break to say... Splooie and RIP. A true DCI legend has passed away.

  13. This is the first time I have been on DCP in 2020. After seeing his passing on social media, the only reason I came here was to pay respect to a legend in the activity. Rest easy, Mike.
