For that type of show, why travel? Why not just have every corps make a quality video of a local performance? Then DCI compiles them into a “show” and streams it, keeping interest alive, recouping some money, etc.
Each show might be attended if the corps so chooses, at a good size stadium where people can stay distant, and where (if they march) you can get a good high cam.
I really hope that DCI has some metrics decided on that need to be in place by some date, or the season doesn't happen.
And how do they announce it - by doing it as soon as they know they need to. Bad news in February or March will be far more palatable than if it is 1 June & they nope out of the event. A fundamental rule of mine is "Bad News Ages Poorly"
This actually may work.
And if 2 or more Corps who's spring training sites are near each other want to perform/record at same location, all the better.
I was thinking webcast whatever each corps does but like this too. Corps can do a variety of things instead of one type of show. If copyrights work out then DCI and/or the individual corps can sell CDs or DVDs. Save that bleeping travel expense
Agree on last point and they can lose even more by waiting until last moment. Wondering how big of a financial hit the corps planning on trying to go will get if they keep waiting. At some point, someone has to say “we hate it, it sucks, but it is beyond human control”.
I’m starting off with the easier questions... Harder one is the one you asked. Hardest ones are “when does DCI know when to pack it” and “how do they announce it and still save face”.
There was no hidden message there. It was just an attempt to build on the levity of your post with some exquisitely bad puns. I’m sorry if you found it offensive in any way.
Honestly, we could all use a good fearleader squad right now. I worry that people are starting to relax when we aren’t out of the woods yet.
scared? No. Concerned yes. But since trying to have a substantive discussion with you is worthless, instead of breaking down the reasons why, I'll just say you have a very nice drum corps that most likely aint gonna have #### this summer
I think you have posted those exact same numbers in another thread. No one else knows them considering the amount of knowledge that is claimed here?
I posted the source once they asked. In my opinion its childish to want to close the thread when someone disagrees or post statistics.
I said in a previous post "At 75 years the fatality percentage goes up. "
Point being that school age kids and instructors are not in the large percentage groups.
If you knew the numbers and were not just looking for fault then you probably would have known they were from the CDC. Why would I have made them up?
In person classes. Masks and distance there is a web site but I'm not going to share because I already feel like someone on here has given out my I.P.
So far this past week for the university we had 14 positives. We have 6 in quarantine at dorms and 8 at home. We have a power BI dashboard that tells us the latest info.

All doing jobs so teachers can be different. Science so far says schools are not super spreaders. Places all over the country have been in school all year. Private schools have been in school all year.
Just hang on a little longer and watch what the parents do. Its coming.
