Let me tell you used to love American style pizza but when I went to Italy...that is a whole different ballgame. Sometimes less is better and with pizza that is the case. I don't like pizza stuffed with cheese. Pounds of fatty meats.
Lol my last competition (1st time around š) was DCA finals at Hershey. When we came off the field saw a guy I knew from a competing corps and shook his hand soon as we stopped. Man did I get some hairy eyeballs for that and I didnāt give a crap. Knew his sister from college and usually ran into him a few times a year at the school or at shows.
Families donāt have the disposable income and those who do are interested in getting the most bang for their investment. The affordable multiple years drum corps experience is declining rapidly, not to mention that the pool of available talent is both shallow and small. Those with the resources will spend it elsewhere even if itās only for a one season experience.
Maybe it is time to bring back the modern equivalent of 'Class A-60'.
I marched in such a Corps - we used to say that we didn't need 90 additional players to back us up.
Having competed in a circuit where there were smaller corps who could still be entertainingā¦.. Whole idea of DCI corps need to be full (and now even bigger) size to be āworthyā is killing the activity as much as anything else.
I think if I was on death row, I would get some St. Elmoās shrimp cocktail. I would give it to the executioner with no warning. That should buy me some time.
Benji Baker, a Music City front ensemble teacher, was in Blast DisneyWorld Japan in 2019, I think. I think they are still going, featuring the music of Disney.
Really disappointed to hear this. I canāt imagine how expensive it must be for those west coast corps to come all the way to the east coast every single year. And now that the big corps can field more kids, interest in the smaller corps is undoubtedly down.
I know! The vocal quality just suddenly goes really weird. I mean her 'harmonization' parts (using the concept of harmony in a vague and abstract way here in her case) is bad enough. Then this starts and I'm like...is she going for something operatic but doesn't know what vibrato and tone control is?
We visited our next door neighbors who built a (for now) snowbird house in Punta Gorda. We had dinner one evening at a nice shopping area on the water.
We then drove to Fort Lauderdale for a 9-day cruise on the Celebrity Reflection.
Though I rarely had a chance to see them , except for finals week, they were one of the more entertaining corps that I thoight might crack the top twelve one day..Sad that they won't be available this year..And yes, it feels like dci is paying for it's sins of omission.peace
Ok...impressions on that.
1. at least he's following the tune.
2. Dear god that woman is terrible at singing.
3. What is she DOING with the "Feel me, see me" part?
4. What is HE doing in the background...creepier than Uncle Earnie.
5. Ok Bloo can take the drum solo from this.
My friends down here fly it a lot. I can Uber to the airport from my house. Jim is from Cincinnati. He can have chili at Camp Washington before we go to Indy.
Same here!
Iām somewhere in 142. Since weāre going on a cruise with my Sis and BIL to Key West for a few days next month and a trip to South Carolina in June, I had to be fair to him.
I guess Iām going to Indy after all. What I donāt do for this old man. š
Weāre flying into Cincinnati from Punta Gorda on Allegiant. I guess the fares werenāt too frightening. Rented a car and it wasnāt too scary bad. Got tickets from the Cadets and Cavaliers. Thanks to them.
Iāve had similar experiences at Finals week. I will go to local establishments with my friends, all with different corps on their shirts. People ask, how can so many corps be represented in such a small group and be so jovial. We say, weāre just drum corps fans. And at the establishment where we are indulging libations, when we learn the new Champions, regardless who wins, I am first to toast the victors ā¦ bumpers all around!
