The administrative and logistical requirements of World Class would drive all of the OC's out of business. On-field product aside, there's a *massive* gulf in funding and structure between the two. Mike4 points

Per your request. All the source music titles I am aware of, and are available, should be there. I will continue to update as more announcements are released.3 points

I'm so excited to know that Crown is putting Jacob Collier on the field. He one of my favorite musical artist. He's such a musical genius. All of his work is amazing. Can't wait to hear Crown and BD battle it out because they both have Jacob Collier pieces in their repertoire. I have a feeling this is going to be a great season. Good Luck Crown!!! I'm 100% rooting for you. I encourage everyone to check Jacob Colliers Music, he's amazing.3 points

Yes. This year’s show is basically 2020’s show. As I understand it, they did use last year’s show as kind of a prequel as you put it. Tocatta is even being repeated, though maybe not quite the same. Gives them one movement that 2/3 the corps was already pretty familiar in. I haven’t seen any of the visual but I hear that may be upped a notch or two from what we’re used to seeing- don’t know exactly what that means.2 points

Just watched full ensemble rehearsal. It is quite a thing seeing a drum corps this size. Boston has a full 165 member corps. Boston fans and supporters are going to be very pleased with Paradise Lost.2 points

I am predicting that the 2022 DCI season will be intensely competitive. I also anticipate most of the shows will be sold out. My thoughts on placements are below: 1. Blue Devils 2. Crown 3. Bluecoats 4. Santa Clara / Boston 5. Boston /Santa Clara 6. Cavies 7. Bluestars 8. Cadets / Phantom 9. Phantom /Cadets 10. Blue Knights 11. Mandarins 12. Spirit of Atlanta 13. Pacific Crest 14. Crossmen 15. The Academy 16. Colts 17. Madison 18. Genesis 19. Music City 20. Jersey Surf 21. Cascades I caveat this prediction by saying its just a meaningless prediction and I would love more folks on here to add theirs. Kind Regards1 point

The Drum & Bugle Corps activity is much more like a semester abroad for marching members. From 1985 to 1987 I attended the Eastern Music Festival in the summer (orchestral camp) and even in the 80s the tuition was in the $6,000 range, and that did not include your flight and extra money for other things. Interlochen, Aspen, Tanglewood and other were at least that or more in the 80s. I believe that in order for drum corps to survive this was the model they needed to take, especially if they wanted the product to be high quality. There are other ways, but I don't think they would attract as many fans or bring in the talent pool. The activity would not be as well liked by the music education community, who these days very much love drum corps and do think of it as the Major League of Marching Music. Drum corps is essentially a roving music camp, and may of the members can get college credit, and perhaps in some cases H.S. elective or arts credits as well. It is expensive and there are not a lot of ways around that. Touring for 2 months on charter busses is expensive. Food, housing, spring training residence, instructors, designers, physical trainers and nurses (some may volunteer), instrument leases and repairs, and drivers, gas, and insurance for equipment and food trucks (again some may volunteer) all cost big dollars. More regional touring could help bring the cost down some, but even in those regions the corps are spread out enough that the distance in travel would still be significant. The difference between DCI and many summer music camps (like the orchestra camps I mentioned) is the later often provide numerous scholarships based on audition and / or need. Could DCI get to a point where they get more underwriting and scholarships that allow tuition to come down to an average $2000 per kid, with the scholarships, sponsors, etc. picking up the other $7,000 or more. Some members do get some sponsorship and that is a good way to go, but a better way would be to setup endowments (music like colleges) that over time grow and provide substantial dollars on the basis of need or merit.1 point

The only thing I would say is that this season might well have alot to do with what each corps did or didn't do in the last 24 months.1 point

I’m surprised no one else has made this connection yet but it’s starting to feel like last year’s show was sort of like a prequel to this year’s. If I’m right, I can’t wait to see how they tie everything together!1 point

It’s always this time of year that I miss living in South Carolina the most. Those easy drives up to G Webb to see evening ensemble were the best! Fortunately, Crown is doing two shows in the Dallas area this year.1 point

Boston did receive a penalty at Quarterfinals in 2013 for the use of baby powder at their Quarterfinals performance. They abandoned it for Semi's and Finals performance as a result. In 2014 at Championships, performing their show " Animal Farm " they ended their show with a guard member displaying this in her right hand...1 point

I've been distracted at Allentown shows before...the distraction usually occurs during a ballad or very soft-moment of a show...so you are definitely not alone...I also have been distracted by many spectators talking...using my Allentown example...the crowd..very forcefully I might add...told him to "shut up"....Northerner's are not afraid to tell someone like it is either...lol1 point

There is no such thing as perfect but the highest with the numbers allotted. You can also be the best even with a drop. There are many elements that go into an entire production and a guard could literally have no visible errors yet have a very inferior product. With that all said, these top guards ( ALL OF THEM ) aren't playing with alot of numbers so the high quality of a lower guard can certainly push those above them to appear to earn a so called " perfect score " Not perfect just highest.1 point

That’s a pet-peeve of mine too. I can understand scores not being impacted if it is the fault of the venue which can be a reason for delays, but if it is the fault of the corps, that’s a different matter.1 point
