1. Here's a plan: Truncate the DCA competitive season down to a month, the last 3 weeks of August and the first week in September. DCI performers who wished to could then march this extended season with DCA corps after Indy. (Some already do this.) It would be the drum corps equivalent to those post-season football games like the East/West Shrine, the Pro Bowl or the College All-Star events.

 2. No one is saying you can’t criticize BAC. But make it a legit criticism and not the same old cry of “poaching”! If you even know what poaching is. Some one leaving a corps because they aren’t wanted or they want a new experience and there is a place for them with another corps and they move to another corps, isn’t poaching. So enough with the poaching cry. If you have a legit criticism and not the easy whine of poaching, have at it. But BAC fans will defend against BS.

 3. From what I know, Jim Ancona (and I think the sound designer, Andrew Monteiro) were the only percussion folks not fired. A friend of a friend that marched this past year said that Ancona emailed the percussion members saying that due to Crown's (pretty #### poor) handling of the staff change, he'd be going to Boston since he was fed up with how Crown had been treating its percussion staff. He then offered expedited auditions for Crown vets that wanted to go to Boston which is why there are like six or seven Crown percussion members now there (including a center snare and center marimba). Boston didn't poach ####. Ancona went there because he'd rather work with friends and not have his fellow staff be treated disrespectfully.

 4. They're enjoying the "everyone wants to be a part of the first championship" effect most likely. I recall reports of Bloo getting that sort of uptick after 2014.

 5. And Ancona is returning to Boston. He’d been there years ago.

 6. Not only is the loaf stale and moldy, but sour grape garnish isn't helping.

 7. Aagghh more of the dopey poaching baloney. So are all new crown staff poached from elsewhere? Same logic, right. Staff moving from one corps to another isn’t poaching. It’s staff moving to new gigs. For a variety of reasons. Some self directed, some disinvited. Let’s finally end the poaching commentary. It’s getting old.

 8. That was my dads corps. I may wear the 1952 Chocolatiers jacket to allentown this year http:// so 2 weeks ago I could post pictures on here, but now I can't not sure what happened, most likely user error. Anyway the jacket has a big Hershey bat then says Chocolaters American Legion post #

 9. I can't wait to see in the Crowd thread that "retirement poached Harloff, Klesch, etc" when they decide to retire.

 12. You are very right. If you were to check out corps staff’s resumes, you would find many corps have staff from many other corps. Kind of how it all works.

 13. Kind of a quiet midwinter day here on the coast of Maine, so I just was having a nice cup of coffee while re-reading this thread from the beginning (####, it is GREAT being retired!) Anyway, Something struck me. Several posters here predicted that Boston will or might possibly win...in a very casual, matter-of-fact manner. And, nobody's heads are exploding. For those of us who have been around the activity since the late 70s, the mere fact that this conversation is even happening is truly incredible! Even if Boston doesn't win, I have to say that for life long BAC supporters, this is a monumental period in history!

 14. That's what you view as getting stale. What I view as getting stale is how nobody can criticize Boston anymore without the wraths of hell raining down upon them because for some reason Boston is now the darling of DCI. That loaf is so stale it's practically growing mold by this point.

 15. As an A-corps alum, former DCI instructor and VC parent I was very disappointed to hear about concepts like “being patched out”, “1/2 years” and other BS. My kid never wore his member jacket again after he left. A few BD-A 2022 MMs were VC alums. EDIT: Sorry for the double post.
