Happy 4th from Cincinnati! No drum corps in our parades this year but plenty of celebration, nonetheless. Enjoy!

Bluecoats aren't the only corps wearing bowler caps this year. Spirit about to start.

Wouldn't it be great to see Pioneer come out and kick a** one of these years. What is the highest they've placed?
I believe there were a few years where they got to about 17-18 In the late 90s.

Thanks. I played French horn.
My first, live drum corps show was 1978 Drums Across America in Atlanta. Guardsmen were my immediate favorite and I couldn't understand how you didn't win (Spirit won). You guys were great!

It is very stormy over there. We had nothing in Chicago. The front just skipped over us. The weather is going to be perfect in Lisle tomorrow.
Same in Cincinnati. We got some dark clouds and maybe a few sprinkles then the sun came out. Glad Lisle is looking good.

Luckily in 2015 I got word that the show had moved indoors at about 3:30 that afternoon, so I turned around and went back home. For me, it's not worth a 2.5 hour drive for a stand-still. If anyone gets word that the competition is cancelled, please post. Thanks.

Indeed. We were there from 8 til 10 and were amazed. We came up the hill on the west side and noticed that there are images on the reverse of the stained glass panels...should be interesting as this show progresses!
I saw them at the Premiere so I got a taste of what this show will become. Unfortunately, it will be another month before I see them again but it sounds like the program is progressing well and I expect to be blown away in Nashville! I am encouraged by the positive comments I've read on DCP (even from those who are less fond of the Cadets).

Looked from pics like a good sized crowd there last nite too.
Yes, this is a very well-attended local show. I can't be certain of a sell-out but it looked to me like the stands were filled all the way to the ends. This show in recent years has had very strong line-ups. This year was 9 total, 5 of last year's top 12 including 1st, 3rd and 5th-placed groups. Crowd is very polite and responsive, so I'm pretty proud of my people.

To finish my commentary on last night, Bluecoats are excellent. The whole corps seem more capable and confident than this time last year. The show is super entertaining and there are some great moments. They are excellent, but I don't find the show as impactful as Down Side Up. Agree with DasTuba that it's more of the same. An outstanding product, but not the game changer we got last year. Still, roof blown off, commanding performance, things are gelling quickly. This was a much better run than on Thursday and I look forward to seeing more changes and refinement.

I can only say so much from marching tuba on the field, but this is my 5th year with Cincinnati Tradition and this is by far the best product this group has ever produced. We greatly appreciated the announcer acknowledging our success at DCA championships last year and appreciate the crowd showing their support for us. We always do our best to take steps in the right direction. Btw, we still have spots open and we are an all age corps if anyone is interested in joining. Our oldest performer is 67 and our youngest is 14, so we have a wide variety of ages and anyone is welcome. Feel free to contact me if you need more information. :-)
Agree with DasTuba, it was a pleasure seeing you guys perform. Someone asked earlier if you were really 14 points better than this time last year. Absolutely yes! Congrats on the great start to the season and hope the rest is just as eventful.

Crowns brass is IN.SANE. the opener to Little Fugue is amazeballs. In my opinion they need to seriously reconsider the vocalist. There's just way too much of her. However, I am loving the rest. The Sacktig drill looks very good on Crown and reports that the guard is weak are exaggerated.

Cavaliers much better live. Would like a little more out of their brass. I do love the show.
I thought the brass sounded a little rough tonight. Last night seemed smoother, less chop, bigger impacts.
