The horn line is required to attend both days of practice and can go to the White Sabers website to obtain this weekends music. Food and sleeping accomodations will be provided by the corps. The drum section (drum line and the pit personnel) will NOT have to report until 5pm Saturday due to winter percussion obligations. Color guard members will be practicing on Sunday only. Practice will be held at the Livingston County Highway Department Complex just off Rt.390 via the Mt. Morris exit. Proper footwear for drillwork exercises should be worn. 3. Oh, just the usual cast of characters..................mostly every one who's there!!!!!!!!!!! C'mon. Join the insanity. You'll love it. It's going to be a great year to be a White Saber!!!!!
  4. You realize that if you stop by you'll get hooked on our show and not want to leave. But you're always welcome!!!!!
  5. Same to you Keith. It's always a pleasure to read your posts and viewpoints. Enjoy that sunny FLA weather.
  6. Doesn't Foreigner have a song with "Blue" in it???
  7. It's a great show. Ben and Joe have really done a great job with this book. And Dean and A.J. got more accomplished with our colorguard today than any other year prior. I hate to admit it but..........they're already ahead of the hornline and the drum section. Plus we're almost 99% sure we added another guard member with DCI/DCA experience shortly after today's practice. It's going to be a great year to be a White Saber.
  8. The White Sabers organization is very pleased to announce that their 2011 DCA Class A show is entitled "Rhapsody in Shades of Blue" and will include songs with "Blue" in the title. Included in the 3 or 4 VERY different genres we will be performing this year will be George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue", Frank Ticheli's "Blue Shades" along with other recognizable pieces of work. This announcement was made Saturday evening at the White Sabers annual banquet by Ben Chaffee, Leslie and Pete Amico. The evening was an enjoyable event that was well attended as current and past members congregated to share laughs and stories, with several new faces noted in the crowd. Everyone had an enjoyable time and many were still talking about it Sunday morning at the start of the day's practice. Sunday's practice began at 9:00am as over 30 members assembled to begin the quest of obtaining this corps first DCA Class A championship. Ben reviewed the goals for 2011 and what he expected from each member and then the corps got down to business. Much work was covered over the next 6 hours and not only did we get some music done but Sean Peterson had us working on basic drill exercises in our rather spacious indoor rehearsal facility. At the end of the practice session all 3 sections of the corps returned to perform and to show off what they had accomplished. The December practice schedule is in the final stages of confirmation and will be posted in the very near future, both on our web site (http://whitesabers.net) and on Drum Corps Planet.
  9. The White Sabers Drum Corps organization would like to announce their most recent additions to the 2011 staff. Returning this summer as our Assistant Corps Director is Kristyn Morgan. Kristyn is a former member of the Syracuse Brigadiers organization (2000-2005) and has been part of our visual staff since 2008. She is currently director of the Westmoreland Central School District Middle School instrumental music program and their Jazz Ensemble as well as the director of their high school marching band program. Joe Itkor, from Hackettstown, New Jersey, is joining the White Sabers family as a Show Design Counsultant. Joe has been involved in the drum corps activity for the past 25 years at both the DCI level (Madison Scouts), the DCA level (where he was most recently the program consultant for the 2010 DCA Class A Champion Fusion Core) and as a DCA judge from 1996-2000 and returned to the same capacity again in 2008 and 2009. Joe has nearly two decades of experience as a high school music teacher. Please stop by Sunday November 14th, check us out and say "Hi" to Kristyn and Joe.
  10. Another rumor to put to rest regarding the 2011 White Sabers..................we will NOT be using amplification this summer. Just good ole horn blowing!! Check out our other thread regarding our most recent additions to our staff. Or join us on Sunday. Your choice.
  11. Looking forward to see (and competing against) you this summer. Best of luck in 2011.
  12. There is a confirmed rumor that this year's show will be about !!!!!!!!!!!!! and !!!!!!!!!!!!. But this is just a rumor. Find out Sunday. Or stop by the White Sabers Bingo Hall Saturday night if you can't wait till then.

See you there!!!!!!
  15. The White Sabers organization is pleased to annouce that they will be kicking off their 2011 competitive season the weekend of November 13th and 14th. Festivities will begin Saturday evening at 6:00pm when the corps hosts it's annual banquet, open to all members of the 2010 corps and any interested individuals wishing to compete in 2011 as well as our alumni members who wish to stop by and reminisce about years past. The banquet will be held at the White Saber Bingo Hall, located at 161 Main Street in the heart of downtown Dansville, New York. Free parking is available in back and evening attire shall be informal. It is during this time that Pete and Leslie Amico will announce our 2011 program and introduce the 2011 staff to all attending. The next morning at 9:00am the start of the 2011 season will occur at the Livingston County Highway Department Building, just off route 390 in Mt. Morris as equipment and music will be issued to all who attend. Mouthpieces, drum sticks and a burning desire to improve upon the 2010 season are required. This year's staff has had a few additions to it. Leslie Amico returns as our corps director and her husband Pete returns as our corps president, head chef and master of many different talents. Pete Cutler returns as our 2011 Show Coordinator with Ben Chaffee returning as Brass Arranger; Dave Kimak remains our Percussion Arranger and will be assisted this summer by Ed and Julia Coleman. Derek Pooley returns to the field for his third summer as the 2011 White Sabers Drum Major and will also handle the role of show design consultant. New to the White Sabers staff for 2011 is Jim Morton from Johnstown, New York. Jim is a former drum major/instructor for the White Sabers organization, is currently the Director of Bands for the Greater Johnstown School District and will be joining the staff as our 2011 Visual Caption Head. Ed Otto also will be joining the White Sabers family as our Drill Designer. Ed has experience both at the DCA level (Bushwackers Senior Drum Corps, Reading Buccaneers Senior Corps), the DCI level (Dutchboy Junior Corps; Kitchner, Ontario, Canada), numerous Pennsylvania high schools as a show designer and/or consultant and is currently with the Coatsville Area Senior High School, Coatsville, Pennsylvania. Our Color Guard Co-Caption Head are Dean Smith and A.J. Avila. Both have prior experience with the former Rochester Patriots organization and are currently the staff with the WGI Allure Visual Ensemble of Oswego, New York. And no year would be complete without the return of Bob Zazzara as our favorite instructor/consultant who somehow can always get that little bit extra from us when we no longer think we have it. So please come, check us out and become a part of New York State's ONLY DCA Class A competitive corps as we begin the path to the 2011 (and last) Finals Weekend in Rochester. Remember...........the White Sabers are a dues free drum and bugle corps. All we ask for is your blood, sweat and tears.
