  1. A GREAT group of DRUM CORPS PEOPLE!!! This is going to be a GREAT summer!!!
  2. I think their show is the most accessible show this year... but I'm just a dumb drummer.
  3. My wife and I went to England about 5 years ago. While walking along the Thames river, a man approaches me." Is that a CROSSMEN sweatshirt? I marched Crossmen in 1988!!!!" We talked about all the people we KNEW, the horror stories...My wife is standing there in SHOCK. "You know people EVERYWHERE"... all I could tell her was "the drum corps community is very small...we ALL know everybody else. its like 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon, but usually a drum corps person can connect with another in 2-3 people."
  4. YUP!!! It promises to be FUNtastic!!!
  5. Thanks FRANK, This is going to be a SPECIAL year. With recent events in my life, I NEED a project to focus on. This Drum Corps is going to be a POSITIVE release of a LOT of energy and emotion. Plus....ITS THE BIRTH OF A NEW FIELD CORPS. Those that say they love the activity, should be happy that we're doing the things needed to put a QUALITY program on the field in our FIRST year of marching competition. I will NOT use this forum to talk bad about people or other drum corps. I WANT ALL DRUM CORPS TO SUCCEED. I know this sentiment is NOT ALWAYS reciprocated, which is THEIR problem. I wish ALL corps (EVEN THE ONES I WANT TO BEAT) the ABSOLUTE BEST of luck during this season. May you ALL have 100 horns and 150 DRUMMERS at each camp!!! (yeah, more drummers!!!) I also hope all your fundraisers go THROUGH THE ROOF to get instruments in the hands of those 100 horns and 150 drummers. Good Luck DCA...see you in WILDWOOD!!!
  6. It was a GREAT day! It's a LOT of fun to watch the BIRTH OF A DRUM CORPS... It's not too late to get on board... Who knows? You might just LIKE the WINDSOR WAY of doing Drum Corps...I sure do!!!
  7. This is a GREAT staff with a GREAT administration...Promises to be a GREAT year!!! Be a PART OF IT!!!
  8. Me want that SET!!!!Slingerland Radio King!!!!!!
  9. 1983 Bridgemen, AFTER the drum solo...lasted about a minute and a half...DURING THEIR SHOW!!! 1983 in Second place....The Blue Devils....place went nuts 1992 I NEVER heard Brandt Crocker say "THE CAVALIERS". the crows was DEAFENING from where I was standing...(in a question mark, on the field)
  10. As far as the snow goes...NO LUCK, but thanks for the sentiment. Another "wonderful" stadium was the MANNING BOWL (now gone) there never seemed to be any grass...Just a dusty nightmare for white pants!!! I also remember the OLD J Birney Crum field (before it was turf) the lines were VERY slippery. Had my first fall there in Dutch Boy and ripped the sole of my shoe off!!!
  11. I TOTALLY remember that...that took place in BRIDGEPORT, Ct.. scared the #### out of me!!!
  12. Hate what they did with the pit, though. I hated the pit thing too, till they finished the crosses...at that point, they could have had the pit naked, playing on buckets...IT WOULD NOT HAVE MATTERED TO ME!!!
  13. 1984 Gran Prix ....The FIRST time I saw the Marine Drum Corps...My dad introduced me to Captain (at the time) TRUMAN CRAWFORD. I shook his hand and said I'd march in his corps one day...I reminded him of this conversation my FIRST day at 8th and I....HE REMEMBERED. All my other memories of that stadium are ACTUALLY just echoes from past performances still whipping around that field...Hearing things on my LEFT that are happening on my RIGHT....and SAINT FRANCIS PREP's MARCHING BAND COMING IN 17th AND WINNING DRUMS....this could only happen in that god-forsaken place....May that bowl rest in pieces....SOMEONE GET ME A SEAT!!!
  14. you need to see that show. Then watch all the other shows that night...you'll have your answer.
  15. in 1989 they augmented the sponsorship by adding Emerson Radio...The Emerson/KMart Cadets of Bergen County
  16. this "storytelling" arc reached its zenith in 1986 with the Sky Ryders' Oz show, a brilliant linear storytelling show. Although 86 Sky Ryders was great, 87 Sky Ryders was greater IMHO. The staging was WAY ahead of its time...The game was pushed forward the next year by SUNCOAST SOUND's "Symphonic Dances for the Contemporary Child" Storytelling WITH original music.... Without those shows doing what they did, there is NO Spartacus 2008!!! just my .02
  17. This was a Jersey Surf shirt from the late 90s IF DRUM CORPS WERE EASY, EVERYBODY WOULD DO IT (and they would call it band.) I upset a few band directors with that shirt.
  18. What a GREAT video....I hope other corps take this idea and expand upon it.. What's really crazy was the day after I saw it, Trevor (euph player with braces) came and auditioned for Chesapeake Indoor!!! I had to do a double take....HOW DO I KNOW THIS GUY???? (he aced THAT audition too, btw )
  19. yeah, but since I'm pretty sure he's NOT writing this show, lets talk about something else....Like "How will Guidry write Metheny?....Will it be another Mix-Tape/Mash-up show, or will he let the melodies come through?" Time will tell....I'm still excited to hear this news
  20. Yes, but are they READY for it....The marching percussion world has taken a weird turn in the last 5-8 years. Can they handle a line "hittin' the drums like they're owed money?" Listen to 90-96 Bones....it's a whole different world of drumming in comparison to whats happening today...IMHO
