  1. As there are copyright issues that are as yet unclear when it comes to Google Video, I am removing the link. If however, it is decided that this is OK for Drum Corps Planet, I will put the link back. Please dont repost the link. I think we can all find our way to Googlr Video anyways. Thank you.
  2. I have not really been a fan of The Cadets since the Cadets of Bergen County days. This year however, I LOVED their show (even the drumspeak). The thing I loved about it was that it was so "out there". I think a lot of people dont take into consideration just how much of a RISK it was to do this show. They could have easily crashed and burned with this concept.
  3. And now I am gonna do one of those "moderator actions"... This was originally posted in this forum as this was the forum where we had the majority of the trolling problem. It was pinned here for several days to get people to see it. That said, this is now more appropriate for the DCP Customer Service Center as it is now off topic for this forum, and as such, I will move it there. I will however leave the link up in the General Forum. Topic moved.
  4. MiamiSun76... I think I can speak for all the mods here on this one... We are human and we DO make mistakes. I personally have NEVER, nor would I EVER close a thread because I "dont agree with" its content. I think that the other mods would be in agreement with me on this one. We do have a very clear outline as to which threads and or posts are to be moderated, edited, removed and closed. They are called the forum guidelines. In case you have never seen them, they can be found at the top of every single page within these forums. That said, I will save you the trouble and provide you with this link. I can see however how it would seem that mods close threads and have the last word. We do and will continue to do so, close threads that have clearly run their course. Once a thread strays so off topic that it is no longer a viable topic of discussion, we close them to conserve bandwidth. With the impending sale of DCP, George has spelled out quite clearly that we do have a limit on bandwidth. The financial coffers at DCP are not endless and as such, we simply cannot have a free for all site. I have closed threads and then reopened them before. SHould these threads have been closed in the first place? Mabey. Mabey not. But, that is why we have an open line of communication with the membership of the site. If I (or another mod) close a thread, and you dont agree with the decision, PM me. I will always reconsider opening it. If it is viable and I can do so, normally I will. That said, I take that on a case by case basis. If you still disagree with my (or any other mods) decision, that is what Rich is for. If this is abuse of "power" then I simply dont know what else can possibly be done to appease you. If you want to discuss this further, PM or AIM me and I will be more than happy to carry on this discussion with you.
  5. Cheers for that mate. It is appreciated.
  6. Yup. That's me. Big Control freak... Trust me mate, I got better things to do with my time. I am just trying to illustrate what a lot of people are saying to me and on this site. This site is what it is, like it or not.
  7. George, I think what is bothering... frightening... most people is the idea that the site can fall into the wrong hands. This site from its inception was all about being the polar opposite to RAMD. Thee and a half years ago, you asked me to be a moderator here. I readily jumped at the prospect because even in its most juvenile stages, it was clear that DCP was different. It was clear that DCP was going nowhere but up. The prospect of this site going to the wrong hands scares many of us. We want to know that what has taken 4 years to build won't come crashing down in 6 days time. It is clear that you have had enough and are ready to move on. I personally wish you the best of luck in whatever you do. It was your vision (and wallet apparently) that gave the DCP vision to the drum corps world, and for that, I thank you. I just hope you are not throwing the baby out with the bath water.
  8. You know what Lee, this may not be a very "moderator" thing to do but I am calling you out on this one. I am just about sick to death of you constantly attacking the mods at this site. Many of us work really ###### hard to try to make sure that this place is welcoming to ALL viewpoints and that discussion occurs civilly and peacefully. Do we always succed? No. Do we sometimes mess up and make a bad decision? You bet, but we are only human. The fact is though, each and every moderator at this site CARES what goes on here. We CARE to make sure that this site is not the cespool that RAMD had become. What have YOU done lately to make DCP a better place? What time have YOU given the site? Well?
  9. I certainly wasnt, and I have been a "dedicated volunteer" for almost all of the 4 years that this site has existed. I am keeping mum on this topic right now because I am so very disappointed. I feel blindsided and like I have been kicked in the stomach.
  10. Here is my entry... The idea behind this one is that it has the corps colors AND blue for York PA. Also, rather than going to a uniform company, these would be easy enough to be homemade at minimal cost to a new corps just trying to find their feet.
  11. Once again... A thread being hijacked by a troll. If you are gonna talk smack about a particular corps that you clearly have / had an affiliation with, and pick on them and only them, at least have guts to say who you are. <**> <**>
  12. Another advantage of helmets: You can eat your Cheerios out of them!
  13. Just a UK spellchecker. I am still all Yank!
  14. Recently, we have had a spate of individuals that have been signing up new usernames here at DCP for the sole purpose of trolling the forums. Many of you have seen the threads these few individuals have posted and many of you have reported them. For that I say thank you. There are many more of YOU than there are moderators and unfortunately we don't always see all. We are human and do make mistakes. We (the FSTMs) try to play things straight down the middle and occasionally you may disagree with our decisions. Many of you have been asking what is being done about these individuals and why there has been not a lot of outward publicity in regards to these postings and posters. I can assure you we have not been ignoring the situation. In fact it has been the number 1 topic of discussion for several days now in the Mods forum. That said, we do have to be careful when banning IP addresses. We have to be thoughly convinced when we ban multiple names on a particular IP that they are in fact the same person. In the case of many schools and public institutions, one IP address willa ctually cover an entire campus so if we ban the IP we ban the campus. So, like I said, we have to be 100% sure and sometimes that takes good old fashioned detective work and time. DCP is not about censorship and we have never "towed the party line" in concern to DCI, DCA or any other organisation. We welcome all points of view, as long as they are put forth in a respectful manner and the ensuing discussion remains civil. That said, I have taken the step today of banning several usernames (I wont say who they are, but you will guess I am sure) and also have deleted the threads they started. I am sorry if this upsets anyone but this is the decision that the FSTM came to. Some of the threads were even quite civil but were started with the intent of trolling, so away to thread Heaven they went. I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate several forum rules. For those of you who stay within our guidelines and report those posts that don't, thank you very much. I sincerely mean that. You are the reason George created this site and you are the reason that I have remained a moderator here for the better part of 3 years now. Now for those of you whose sole purpose is to come here and troll and ruin the DCP experience for everyone else... Just go away now and save yourself and us the hassle of us banning you. Because I assure you we will.
  15. Not on the list but 2 of the darkest shows in DCI history: 1990 Freelancers 1988 Suncoast Sound
  16. I believe he is the head of the music department at Folsom High School outside of Sacramento. They have a national award winning jazz ensemble.
  17. And this relates to General DRUM CORPS discussion how? Closed.
  18. Here is what I would put on the side of your truck.... Off Topic. Closed.
  19. Cheers mate. 92 was my age out year. I for one liked our show that year!
  20. For the sake of consistency, I am closing this. Whether or not YEA said too much in their press release is up to the individual reader to decide. The simple fact is that the offer to Mr Robinson has been recinded and that is that. Closed
  21. When you think of all the miles that DCI corps do over the course of the summer, this makes you say "There but for the Grace of God go I...." My heart goes out to the victims families and prayers go out to all. This is truly tragic.
  22. First and foremost... Lets remember the TOPIC of this thread. It is about the appointment of the new SCV director. It is NOT about George Hopkins or amps. If we cant stay ON TOPIC, I will shut this down. Sorry if that annoys some. After all, it seems that I must be going out of my way to close topics...
  23. Star 91.. Hands down. The crosses at the end were UNreal!!
