  1. 1984 California Dons Drum and Bugle Corps- Well if you always wanted to see them back in the day and were unable, the entire show from their first year of competition is on youtube now. 25 years ago Mel Stratton put this corps together and set off across country to DCI in Atlanta, GA. Here is that show that placed them 4th in Division II finals with a score of 83.80 Enjoy...I sure enjoyed marching it. I won't post the link, just do a search for 1984 California Dons Drum and Bugle Corps
  2. I was wondering that too, I just like how throughout the day it has slowly faded out. :P
  3. I agree, I really love the music and visual package only.
  4. Musically BD is right where they belong, however visually, they don't belong in the top 5. Not nearly as demanding a marching show it should be where they are placing.
  5. Division I 1 The Academy 77.350 2 Pacific Crest 74.500 3 Mandarins 73.800 Division II 1 Blue Devils B 74.600 Division III 1 Fever 71.600 2 Gold 66.050 3 Impulse 65.950 4 Velvet Knights 63.950 5 Mystikal 60.300 All age corps 1 San Francisco Renegades 75.913 2 SoCal Dream 69.113
  6. So refreshing to hear the Cavies play more than percusion percussion horn blast horn blast, very musical show and entertaining, but personally I don't see this winning it all.
  7. ACK! Musically and visually beautiful. Vocally - OMG couldn't Hopkins pay for some acting lessons at least? Sheesh if you insist on forcing us to hear this juvenile narration than at least make it sound interesting. Why cant this narration be on the right channel and the music be on the left channel so I can turn off the right channel? Are the narrators in the horn line, cause they always sound out of breath, good grief. "in high school I didn't seem to fit in..." Hopkins we get it already.
  8. BD - I didn't like the wings back in the 80's and I still don't. Over used IMO. Good show but for some reason I just don't care.
  9. Phantom Regiment - Mama Pajama I pooped ma pants! Lakme' for the win! Simply beautiful all around.
  10. Bluecoats WOW! what a fun and exciting show. Good job. Looking forward to seeing it live.
  11. SCV was on fire, that was a great performance. The ending is so powerful. ^OO^
  12. I haven't seen the recaps, but does anyone know if there was any specific reason for the flip flop between RCR and Dream? I have seen both shows 2 times now and it doesn't make sense to me, but then again California All-Age Corps judging doesn't make much sense to me. RCR has a great music book when the soprano soloist plays those solos its like butter, good job man. Unfortunately the impact is lacking due to the small numbers in the hornline. That being said it is one of my favorite books of the year. The baritone soloist is pretty great also. Dream has grown up and I really like what I see and hear. 20 horns? I think that is what I saw, but the blend other than a sop getting a little too excited here and there, was really nice. I think some good things will happen for this corps real soon.
  13. Just wondering if anyone has any news of any of the corps on tour being caught in the storms or flooding and if so is everyone alright? I love drum corps and seeing shows, but I would much rather a corps cancel a performance than risk traveling through rough weather. That goes for the fans too. Be safe all and take care traveling.
  14. Senior Corps 1 Renegades, Sr. 70.860 2 River City Regiment, Sr. 68.380 3 Dream, Sr. 62.170
  15. North Star Bridgemen Star And from California alone: VK San Jose Raiders South SF Conquistadors Anaheim Kingsmen Hollywood Knights Freelancers Ahhhh...the memories... :(
  16. Excellent review, the best I have read on these boards. Thanks for being so honest, I couldn't agree with you more.
  17. Great reviews, thanks. I can hardly wait to go to Madison and Scranton! :D
  18. "I think Scades are looking at 12th or 13th. It's NEVER easy to crack into the top 12. LOVE THIER MUSIC!!!!" Your right it's never easy, and this show isn't easy. With the way these kids execute and perform this show I can easily see them in 9th or 10th at nationals. Keep up the good work Cascades!
  19. A few Baritones in our line have been noticing the same thing this season. This last weekend I made sure to drink plenty of water all day and especially just prior to performing. Also, something I used to use to keep my mouth and throat lubed when I was performing as a singer was Ricola Cough Drops. (The ones in the yellow package) I swear by them. That seemed to do the trick. I will have to try it again on our next show day. If you come up with another solution please share. :D
  20. I agree completely! The Alumni Corps brought back so many memories, all of which are great. I can hardly wait to see you again in Madison!
  21. You tell 'em Larrie! I will never forget the sounds of that upper brass line in 79-81. It was magic!
