I have been marching drumcorps for 35 years, and of all the experiences I have lived through, marching with the Renegades at this parade back 10 years or so ago, was one event I will never forget. Good times, go march.

Just for the record, I think DCA gets it right most of the time. The communication thing is still a bit of a mystery, but this conversation is helping and I hope it will continue. Please try to stay on topic, but as we say in the Govies, passionate people have passionate opioions, so go fight it out somewhere else, and come back when your ready to play nice again. ...and crying is OK

Well now, how did DCA do this weekend? Did the Bucks communicate better then the other corps?

Thanks to all who have chimed in, and from what I can tell, it will still remain a mystery to what "communication" means. Although I am going to watch how the comm score correlates with overall placement. See you all soon

Maybe the comm judge is posted down front and just looks at the crowd, and makes their assessment of this caption based on only crowd response, crowd interaction, crowd enjoyment. Then call the caption based on what it should really be, which is money. Get people entertained so they tell their friends "holy carp! You missed a great show" instead of what happens alot of times, which is, "show was OK, corps were good, but not very entertaining" How many times are you going to go see a band at a rock concert when your just not very entertained by the band and or the whole event?

Hey guys, this is great, but it leaves me in the same spot as before, which is "what does a corps have to do to get an exceptional comm score", or is it the other points you get, which is relatively the same as everything else? I see the 4th/5th place corps win top guard, or high drums, but can the 5th place corps win communication? I say no, because its not really a caption that is judged, its just a caption that gives you the same spot as your final score. Yes?

I don't understand if the crowd is considered in this caption, and how is one corps better at "communication" then other corps?

OMG, I heard you were killed by your own drum corps when you attempted to try to tune. Bag pipes not working for you? FYI, GUAPO. I happen to know the Blue Stars Allumni are done with the whole " lets take anything that walks, even bag pipper want-a-bees" like youself, as your good ( and only ) friend this will be your last chance to march with the Tremendous. Please don't throw this away like you did with EVERYTHING in your little life of non-blasting. I would normaly end this with a "get a job" but that would take time out of learning the pipes, and god knows you need all the time in the world for that, so instead, let me end with this, LAST CALL, you want to be Tremendous?

Dear Big W How dare you let out our secrets ( and thanks for the kind words and support) the part of the secret you forgot was picking the right music and arrangements, make them simple and fun so your players can enjoy making music together. last secret idea, steal stuff. if it worked for a corps your size, steal it, use it, then lie about it, and say it was your plan all the time, it just happens to sound like the "insert corps name thats the same size as us" did this back in "insert year because you saw the video from that year" sooo, Big Mr. W please stop with all of your drum corps maddness.

Dear guapo ( or whatever you are being called these days ) show yourself, so I may taunt you properly. Tremendous Blast is back from their 3 year tour of Morocco (nice place) and will be marching the Oktoberfest parade on Sept 27 in St.Peter Mn. Well since no one wants to say anything, this is what I saw. Fri night in So.St.Paul was perfect. The weather was great, the crowd was great and Ann Jones really steped up her game with the best selection of "bars" ever!!! Did not get to see any corps except the Govies, which I was right in front of, they sounded good, a bit shaky in parts, but got the idea across. From what I heard from other drum corps nuts, they rest of the corps all had great shows and were happy with their scores. Sat in St.Peter was also perfect. The weather, the crowd, the corps, all were very good tonight. Corps played, scores went up, people enjoyed drum corps. After all was said and done, the party started, and then more was said, and people liked drum corps again. All in all, the Minnesota weekend was great, but thats just what I saw.

I predict (and will make happen) a huge after show party at Patrick's. I predict a bunch of drum corps fans will watch the show. I predict a crapton of spectulation of how this show changes the rest of the drum corps world. I predict the drum corps channel at Patrick's will get a workout this weekend ( new out door addition should be up and working) I predict people who marched this weekend will be tired when they go home

(well maybe not the biggest ever, but lets not let the facts get in the way of a good story) The party starts when the scores are announced. Come to Patrick's for a night of drum corps vids, friends, drinks, food, and all the storys/bs/spectulation you can handle. Some say this is where the real critique happens, so come buy a drink for a judge because it will be worth 5 points;-) yup, I said that.

I've had a lot of intros in my life and I have to say that's a new one. My name is John Mayer and I am the drum major for the Govenaires drum and bugle corps. I've been doing the job as drum major for the corps since 1995 and have been a part of the drum corps since 1980. I have marched every year with the Govenaires exept for 87 88 in which I marched with the Madison Scouts playing tenor drum. Being a member of the Govenaires has been my life's passion, I have done almost every job possible in the drum corps and currently hold position of President, truck driver, parade snare, percussion instructor, and in general "hey go fix this cause you're not doing anything except waving your arms" This year I hope to see my buddy tuna back on the field he's getting kinda old but he's a great assistant drum major.

Maybe consider going the C2 route. Less time,travel,$. DCA would love to have more quality coprs. DCI is not the only game in town.

Just wanted to put in my 2cents worth The stadium at Mankato state is one of the best for 2 reasons 1- No track, and no room for the DM podium. You are as close to a corps as possible. 2- One can stop at Patrick's in St.Peter and watch the drum corps channel. ..and the stadium at GAC is real nice as well, like a smaller DeKalb.
