  8. Check out this Shepard Fairey: http://thegiant.org/wiki/index.php/Swindle_4 DRUM CORPS!
  9. If it were a quality print of say under 100 total I'd probably do $30 to $50 for just the print. Most people I think would prefer to frame their own since they will figure they can get one cheaper (you also have shipping to worry about--a tube is cheaper). Some of the Justin Santoras I collect are smaller, hand done, 5 color prints in a series and he charges only $20 for them-delivered. The secondary market for those is twice the price. A Shep Fairey is normally 18 X 24 and go for $50-$60 off the OBEY website (and sell out in minutes). It's secondary market (EBAY) is twice to 4 times the money depending on the subject--with around 300-450 an edition. Keeping in mind they are posters, the value is amazing. I have been amazed drum corps in general has not gone after this market, especially if they are good ones like this one.
  10. As someone who has recently started collecting posters this is one I'd buy. I collect Shep Fairey (the guy who did the famous Obama Hope poster), Tyler Stout, Dave Kinsey, Joshua Budich, etc to name a few and many of these are in the 18 X 24 format. I use a portfolio case for these but the 18 X 24 format allows you to buy an inexpensive frame without getting a custom frame. As someone who has most of the Obama campaign prints I can tell you oddball sizes make it very expensive to hang these up on the wall. In any case, you'll want to make limited editions of several sizes and make sure they are signed and numbered. These you can obviously charge more for than standard unsigned and un-numbered prints. Quality offset or digital printing can make a difference too. My 02 cents.
  11. Hey all, I'd like some idea on how much my State of the Art CD's that contain studio recordings of BD and SCV from 1980 and 2000 are worth. Any ideas how much you would pay? Thanks!
  12. Thanks Randy! Haven't seen my name in a paper for quite some time. Well written article I might add!!
  13. Timpani. They just had a fabric wrap around on them to make 'em pretty.
  14. Brad, You're the fastest email replier on the planet! :P The Euphonium is mine folks!
  15. I got this email back in '04 from Steve Vickers when I asked about this: When Ken passed away, his will left the master tapes to DCI and specified that they not be used to make money. There is also a copyright clearance problem on a huge amount of the music that is contained on the tapes. DCI has, so far, indicated they will never make the material available. Perhaps someday they'll change their mind or figure out how to clear the music with BMI, ASCAP and the Harry Morris Agency. In the meantime, rest assured that all of the material has been preserved. Every minute of every reel-to-reel tape has been transferred to digital computer files to ensure that these historical recordings are not lost forever. The people who own the Stetson D. Richmond and Alf Wateska collection are willing to allow that material to be used and that's where the 50 CDs come from. Likewise, Dale Johnson's material is also available (38 CDs). 16. One of my favorites was by a Spirit of Atlanta Instructor in front their horn line in the early 80's say: " What in the h*** do ya' think you're doin'! Do you think you can take a breath any time you FEEL like it!!" Classic...
  17. So is everyone in agreement that this is a 1124 or 1127 knockoff and not worth the time? How would they have been able to completely copy it so well? For the price, it almost looks worth it.....
  18. It looks like what they're doing is putting the cost of the horn under $10 bucks but setting the shipping charge for about $400. I assume that's where they're getting the money. Does it LOOK like an 1124 or 1127 to anyone?
