  1. Atlanta Brass Classic...31 days. Phantom will be there. 'Nuff said. Looking forward to Cdets and Boston as well. No Crown though... :( .
  2. Wow. Way to not recognize great music, great drill, and complete emotion when you see it. There is no way not to like this show. Watch it a few more times, please.
  3. The clip isn't working for me...can someone upload it as an actual MP3?
  4. Argh...why is this "double F" registering as a concert C?
  5. From what I can understand, the recording on Season Pass is the finals recording with a section of the finals recording spliced in. This seems to start right before the ending solo of If We Were in Love, but the solo opening up Allegre is definitely form semis as well. Is the rest of the recording from semis as well, or does it ever go back into finals?
  6. Blue Devils 1. 1989 2. 1988 3. 1986 (These top three are pretty much tied in my book...amazing shows. Indescribable) 4. 1992 5. 1999 6. 2003 7. 1987 8. 1995 9. 1990 10. 1980 11. 1979 12. 1976 Santa Clara Vanguard 1. 1989 2. 1999 3. 1987 4. 2003 5. 2000 6. 1992 7. 1988 8. 2004 9. 1991 10. 1998 11. 1986 12. 1985 Madison Scouts 1. 1999 2. 1996 3. 1997 4. 1995 5. 1994 6. 1989 7. 1993 8. 1983 9. 1988 10. 1998 11. 1984 12. 2003
  7. I just checked, the highest (last) note of the Strawberry Soup solo is a concert B...so is the double C really a concert Bb? I'm confused.
  8. Wow...what shows have actually featured that? Hate to bring it up, but the frack in BD '89...isn't the "note" that doesn't quite make it the G below "double C"? Cause even that is super high.
  9. By the way, here's why I get confused...the "double C," is that a concert C? I assume this is the first one that's on ledger lines...not the one an octave above it...right? Cause seriously, the only time I remember that one being played is in the intro in Garfield 1982 right before Rocky Point Holiday...does that even have a name?
  10. Exactly, "thin" is exactly what I'm talking about. A characteristic trumpet sound is anything but thin. But go listen to a good sop solo like in SCV '99 or Madison '96 (OK, like all ten of them :P)...completely full, not thin at all.
  11. I guess what I'm trying to say here is...compare those soprano solos that BD interspersed throughout their shows in the 80s (86, 88, 89, etc.) to trumpet solos in shows like Blue Devils '04, Phantom '05, Cadets '03...there's just no comparison. They just don't sound like trumpets, at all, and the sopranos, well, did.
  12. I have to say, I love Bb and all, but I can't think of a single corps whose trumpets sounded absolutely spectacular (OK, maybe Cavies 2002), or even trumpet soloists (again except Cavies '02). At 200 beats per minute at a 6 to 5, I just don't think it's possible to get an extremely good sound out of a trumpet...yet with the sopranos it was more than possible. Anyone else noticed this?
  13. Heh, I wasn't sure what the topic poster was asking...I figured he meant favorite, and that's how they rank for me. But performance-wise, they're definitely at the top of the list.
  14. Cadets 1. 2000 2. 1993 3. 1992 4. 1983 5. 1995 6. 2001 7. 1998 8. 1996 9. 1989 10. 1999 11. 1987 12. 1997 13. 1988 14. 1984 15. 1990 16. 1985 17. 1991 18. 2005 19. 1994 20. 2003 21. 1986 22. 2004 23. 2002 Oh...just 12?
  15. Great show, great design, great musical arrangments, excellently performed...what more could you want?
  16. "Posting Etiquette": I wish you "would" stop using quotation "marks" around phrases "that" don't even need "them." Please "stop" posting "like" that.
  17. Whoa...what happened in 1981 that caused there to be no video recordings?
  18. This is a tough choice...make sure you take into account all the aspects that make a hornline great. I'm going to go with 1993 Cadets...I take this as what drum corps in G should sound like.
  19. Did I mention I love those chords? And how they lead into that famous Bocook tag ending? DAHHHHHHH..... DAHHHHHHHHH... DAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... Just listen to them. So rich.
  20. Yeah, I can't get it to work...can someone upload it, cause it only seems to be streaming right now.
  21. I. Love. This. Show. And actually, I think I'm pretty sure this was before they put on the "real ending," this is when they still moved the company front forward using an excerpt form the beginning of "The Happy Ending" as a nice chorale before segueing into the those chords...not sure how much later, though, they took that out and decided to add some crazy drill, with a huge silence before the chords. Not sure which is more effective or which I like better... But yeah. How they did that with no yardlines or hashes I'll never know. Can anyone who was in this show give a litle insight?
  22. I'm a bit worried, though, about singing "lyrics" to the first song...is the corps gonna play at all, or will it just be someone singing?
