  1. I was there (Marist in 76), John could word things in a way that "you" (everyone) understood what he meant and wanted from us. Sometimes the volume of those words could also rise above a whisper for sure... And yes, (IIRC) it was "quieter" for a while after that "conversation" between you and John.
  2. AMEN! Thank you Ray for posting.... I am very thankful for having Mike Hart on our side for sure.... This world would be in a LOT less crap if there were a few more Mike Harts in it.
  3. Good thing Ron will still get Sunday to rest.... He's going to need it!
  4. I'm sure a few of us have a couple of pics we could use..... OR, when left on our own one never knows exactly what might happen. LOL
  5. Sorry, not a "review" per se... Apologies for this taking so long. We returned home very early Sunday morning (4:30) so I was not able to start uploading everything (videos, audios and photos) until late Sunday afternoon. (Videos, audios and photos for all 7 performances Saturday evening takes quite a bit of time. LOL) 2 days of uploading everything to my computer, editing and converting what needed to be done, (audios, videos and re-sizing photos) uploading on line and then copying and pasting the links into a Notepad. Only 16.5GB later... ran into the max allowed in my monthly data allowance (that ends on the 17th) and had to add a few more GBs in order to finish. LOL I'm still attempting the "one person recording audio, video AND taking still photos" thing. (all at the same time!) I'll give this somewhere in between a 5 to 8 on the difficulty scale of 1 to 10..... (at least in IMHO) I am eternally grateful for a very understanding wife... Even with Sunday being Mother's Day Donna asked me to put these together, though the day was intended to be spent on what she wanted to do today... As with ALL of the videos, audios and photos I take, "Please use as you see fit" THANKS again for a GREAT evening of Drum & Bugle Corps! In an attempt of deciphering my file description gibberish: "01" (etc) = 01 (order of appearance of performing Corps) "Corps Name" = (obviously the name of the Corps performing) "1328" = (The audio file number on my recorder) ".mp3, "mp4", "avi", etc = (Type of audio or video format for this file) 5/10/14 "Spring Preview", Hosted by The Reading Buccaneers In the order of appearance: Nantional Anthem Photos: 5-10-14 Spring Preview_00National Anthem Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/sundm/sets/72157644579823926/ Audio: 5-10-14 Spring Preview-00National Anthem1327 (1.82MB/1.59 Mins) 5/10/14 - All 7 audios files, complete album: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/po8dmav9i99ym69/AABBhVC2GjlFU9pOS60KBHkha (You will be able to listen to (and or download) the MP3 files from the link. 6. Apologies for staying OT... heh Because I had a copy of AutoCAD (from where I worked as the Plant MGR. I was required to complete projects no matter how long that took or from where I needed to be while getting them done.) I lost everything when one of my computers died.... (IIRC, that was about two total meltdowns and computer replacements ago. heh) And that was AutoCAD 10 or 12! (No way I was going to buy a new copy of the program for myself) I think this makes two guys that I know that have AutoCAD currently. You and Milton Fitz... (Milt is still working in the field (Drafting I believe) where he's using his daily) I on the other hand was only doing private sub-contract work from home when I lost the program.)
  7. Chrome is my default browser, FF is my back up. I don't use IE....
  8. Wow..... I wonder who names town and were they shot for naming towns like that one.
  9. There are time that words never seem to be enough.... Losing Tyler is one of those times for Donna and myself. Sincere condolences to Bethany Kulp, Cecily and Tom Siegfried, Sayre Kulp and the entire Kulp family. Cecily posted on her FB page the information for Tyler's services...
  10. Nope, didn't miss it.... LOL (by the time I read the post the photo was already up... heh) Not my fault..... I can barley see over the top of the computer desk, I had to stand on a little stool so I can see the monitor. (yes, I types "stool" and we all know nothing "small" is going to be strong enough to hold me... heh)
  11. You going there? Are you trying to say something? (see what happens when we don't have a photo to work on? )
  12. Yeah.... but keep in mind how out of hand we get when we're left to ourselves....
  13. Congratulations one and ALL!! I replied to my friend's post (Frank Ponzo) in another DCP thread to personally congratulate him... http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/index.php/topic/106210-guess-who/page-3513#entry3350111 Three of this year's inductees are also connected to my last Corps (Sunrisers). Frank Ponzo, marched from 1982-1983, 1987-1988 Soprano, Pete Emmons was our 1974 Visual Designer and Robert Vitti is the 2013-2014 Program Coordinator! Again, CONGRATULATIONS to ALL!
  14. CONGRATULATIONS Frank!!! Most deserving my friend!! World Drum Corps Hall of Fame www.worlddrumcorpshof.org/news.htm April 29, 2014 The World Drum Corps Hall of Fame announces the Class of 2014 Since 1976 The World Drum Corps Hall of Fame has honored individuals who have contributed significantly to the drum and bugle corps activity. Please welcome and congratulate these newest members who will be inducted on Friday evening August 29th in Rochester, New York. Pete Emmons It is next to impossible to overstate the influence Pete Emmons has had on the visual aspect of drum corps. Garfield's "Peace Sign", Vanguard's "Bottle Dance", the concept that drill could be asymmetrical, all came from the imagination of Pete. Since 1988 and to this day Pete Emmons has been an important part of the Blue Devil's organization. Pete was previously inducted into the DCI Hall of Fame. Frank Ponzo When people talk of a soloist who can fill a stadium the name Frank Ponzo will always be prevalent. Frank's career as a soloist spans more than three decades and includes The Sunrisers, Caballeros, Caballero Alumni and the Golden Eagles. His teaching career is equally impressive. Of those who have had the privilege of working with Frank, the phrase 'team player' is common. Frank was previously inducted into the Buglers Hall of Fame. Scott Stewart For more than three decades the name Scott Stewart was synonymous with the Madison Scouts. He joined The Scouts as a baritone player in 1968 then went on to become a staff member and eventually Corps Director, a position he held for more than twenty years. Under his directorship the Madison Drum Corps Association sponsored three drum and bugle corps and was a beacon for fiscal responsibility. Scott was previously inducted into the DCI Hall of Fame. Mark Thurston Be it Junior Corps, Senior Corps or Indoor Percussion, Mark Thurston has enjoyed tremendous success. The Crossmen, Spirit of Atlanta, Westshoremen and Buccaneers have all benefited from his teaching and writing skills. In 1999 WGI named Mark as their Director of Percussion, a position he holds today. Mark was previously inducted into the WGI Percussion Hall of Fame. Robert Vitti Spanning more than 30 years Bob Vitti's instructional history has taken him from The Sky Riders of Hutchinson, Kansas to The Skyliners of New York City to the 5 time DCA World Champion Brigadiers of Syracuse, New York. Those that know Bob well speak highly of his ability to infuse excitement and enthusiasm in his teaching both in drum corps and as an educator. Robert Zazzara Certainly an accomplished and highly respected brass arranger and instructor in the drum and bugle corps arena, Bob Zazzara's significant influence has been felt throughout not only drum corps but in education and adjudication. Bob earned his Bachelor's Degree as a trumpet major but then went on to a Master’s Degree in vocal music. Bob's talent was and is recognized by virtually every adjudication association from DCA to DCI.
  15. Thanks Jim.... I'm still in communication with all of the Lancers' staff and management....
  16. Most welcome Tommy... Thank you for your support. In hopes that everyone will know "why" I do this. (record the audios and videos at all of the Alumni stage shows I am able to attend) Your patience is greatly appreciated. This is similar to what I have sent to all of the Corps' staff and management about why I am doing this. (My communication with each Corps also included my request to have their permission to publicly post the links to the audios and videos) Having said / posted this, When (if) I get the OK (from each Corps' representative) to post the audio and video links to their Corps' performance is when I will post them. My question here (to the DCP mods) is where to post the links to the material I have when / if I get the OK to do so...
  17. If I may, I can attest to what you're saying Tim..... I sit in the "blast zone" at the Alumni stage shows. (front row) Literately inches away from the entire horn lines! When you have Curt Hakwins, George Headly and Dave Farren from the Cabs Alumni AIMING the bells of their horns at your head you WILL hear ringing for a few days! ALL of the Alumni Corps' lead lines (Sop, Bari AND Mellos) are throwing some major heat. These cats still "have it" and know how to use it! When the soloists and duets "step out" they are actually standing in front of you, or some times on your feet. LOL I'm L O V I N G all of it!!
  18. Donna and I would LOVE to come out and see our good friend Ritchie!! (and it's only 4 hrs and 45 mins away! heh)
  19. Sorry about getting "here" a little late... This is what I posted on another DCP thread.... (http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/index.php/topic/159295-york-show/) OR.... is THIS the right place to post the links? Mods?
  20. Not sure if this is the right place to post the links to the photos, audios and videos I took at the York show.... Mods? Thanks in advance....
  21. I knew Tim started on Bari. I learned that when we talked about my starting on French Horn and going to Bari before ending up DMing..... (Oh yea, Don.... I guess it does. *mean you are correct that is*)
  22. It really didn't look like Tim until Fran posted the MP YouTube clip... (Yea, I know THAT doesn't make sense.)
