  1. It seemed to me as though everyone in the Bridgemen were older in 1977. After the DQ I just assumed that there were many guys that were in their 30's.....especially the ones with the facial hair....I had none back then....childish I must admit
  2. As long as there is a big, full hornline sound, I am ok with changes.....
  3. Kingsmen Muchachos Bridgemen Oakland Crusaders Seneca Optimists Argonauts
  4. Judging by the caps and the tone of the comment, I will venture to say he was trying to write "crap" :P...but that's just me
  5. I believe the first year for DCI East Allentown was 1977. B)
  6. Can't wait for Long Beach July 14th and Aug 8th.....what a dream....the video brought tears!!!
  7. .....great to see the contrast between the old an new, especially in those photos....can't wait to do it in 2007 in Pasadena with the Kingsmen....agreed....a once in a lifetime experience
  8. That CYO amounts to one of my best shows ever with the Kingsmen....the beautiful day the classic Harvard stadium and the sight of the 27 guard....I was in drum corps heaven at CYO 77 B)
  9. We will be wearing the original Kingsmen cadet style unifornm...the bowling shirt (as it is affectionately known as now) is for performances leading up to DCI Finals 2007 at the Rose Bowl....they are pretty cool shirts B)
  10. Here's a few photos taken with the KAC from the first Southern California Loud Music Symposium (LMS) at Torrance High School in Torrance, CA........photos are courtesy Bill Borges @ xkingsmen.com This is me top right with new haircut me at attention after the show second from right Again top right....I'm always on the end ....and a classic snare line B)
  11. Missed this one....I could watch a show and share these views as well
  12. I guess it depends how much you fit in or tried to fit in.....I remember instances of discrimination where a few blacks in the corps were called the "N" word and Latinos were called "beaners"....but this was back in the late 70's.....I won't mention which corps I marched with was notorious for this, but I am sure some alumni that marched in those years can remember,....I mean it even happened on the practice field as well, so it was not that big of a secret.....it mellowed as the season progressed B)
  13. Just my 2 cents....anything done visually on the field IMO is always secondary....I would prefer them to standstill and play loud B)
  14. Since I missed the Walnut Show a few weeks ago, the LMS-Torrance performance was my first live drum corps performance in just under 26 years....it was great....my fellow KAC members were in all their glory and I cannot wait until DCI 2007....now, I have heard much about the Renegades, and have heard that there are many former Blue Devils in that line....got a chance to hear them live and they were absolutely evil.....Stairway to Heaven left my jaw dropped and Chris and Larrie's solos were awesome....I was standing at the side door near the stage and got a live glimpse of what modern senior corps sounds like other than the recorded version....I have missed much and hopefully will be able to march at least one season with the Renegades in my lifetime....what a treat B)
  15. yeah I agree,...all that stuff is priceless, but don't discount the will to win,...read my whole post about rebuilding...sure you have some seasons when you set goals at maybe making the top 25....but your goals should always be set higher and higher each season....don't stay in that "I can't win mindset"....I don't believe that "ZERO" chance mentality stuff....I guess it's just a matter of opinion.....I truely believe that even today,....the harder you work, pray, and sweat....the results will come,...but I gues that's just me B)
  16. I would not say least important....in the years I marched that was the point to work towards making finals after rebuilding for a few years....I guess I'm a little confused....I agree the bus ride, the bonding , and the discipline one gets from drum corps are memories that follow you forever,...but honestly, what is the point of marching in drum corps if not to eventually make finals and hopefully win....this as wel makes for great memories that follow you forever B)
  17. Hardly a conspiracy,.....I see Morganhills point...it is much more exciting to view the sectional warm-ups in the parking lot before the show for free than to sit through the whole show...this can be a plus for those who are not big fans of modern drum corps....this is what I do....warm-ups seem to never change,...its the on-field stuf that I would rather do without and at a cheaper price to boot.....you will not see me in the stands, but you can sure catch me in the parking lot B)
  18. I think it's a combination of what you and Bawker said....but they are on their way back! B)
  19. Yeah, and I have to ask my parents if I can have the car tonight :P
  20. You look like one of the lead singers of Los Lobos with those shades.....cool :P
