  1. I hadn't realized it until recently, but I think I have been afflicted with baritone hearing loss phenomenon. Wasn't there before when I spent most of my time on picc, but since I started playing baritone on a regular basis I've found myself saying "huh??" after almost everything someone says to me.

    Polish

I've used both Twinkle and Wright's silver polish. A friend of mine uses this stuff in a can that comes out all foamy and stuff called Teek. And I used this other stuff called Venol on my flute. They all seemed to work equally well to me.
  3. My older brother started trombone the year before it was my turn to pick a horn. I wanted french horn, euphonium, bassoon, tuba or flute (in that order). The guy that fitted me for an instrument said all 5th graders start on trumpet for horn and told my mom it would better if there weren't 2 low brass players in the house and that bassoon was too hard. I made a loud, nasty sound on the trumpet and a not-so-loud, not-so-nasty sound on the flute. Voila! I played the flute and eventually got quite good at it. Then I saw drum corps tapes and fell in love with the low brass sound. I hijacked my brothers trombone for hours learning to play that thing before I took the baritone. I still play the flute, but the baritone is just plain more fun.
  4. Ha!!! I don't even OWN a brass instrument! The only instruments I own are my Gemeinhardt 2SP and my Yamaha 385 flutes! I want a ephonium though. I'm hoping a beautiful Besson will fall from the sky (:-D Capitla Regiment baritone 01
  5. When we couldn't see the dm, we were told to watch the drumline's feet. The drumline did dut. The only time anyone in the horn line had to dut was at the opening of the show when we were in a tight form at the back corner of the field and couldn't see the dm count off. Then we had one contra player at the front do the duts. We did bop the show a few times and it did help. :) Capital Regiment baritone 01
  6. Baris used 6 1/2AL. I think mellos used 6V. Not sure about sop or contra though. But I am positive that everyone in each section had the same mouthpiece. The corps provided our mouthpieces and if we didn't use what they gave us we also ran the risk of being killed. Capital Regiment baritone 01 SMB Hooah
  7. Switching from bone to baritone ~ maybe 2-2.5 lbs. Switching from picc to flute ~ 1-2 lbs. Switching from FLUTE to baritone ~ 6-7 lbs. *Switching from FLUTE to euphonium ~ insane psycho with a death wish.
