  1. Pretty accurate except for one thing......the I.C. Reveries were not the 'successor" to the 27th Lancers. It's the other way around. 27 was born out of the Reveries. Some of our distinguished Lancer alums can give the full story.
  2. I was a member of the Glassmen and we folded about a third of the way through the 76 season. I loved Osage in 75 and was watching their prelim performance at Toledo Key to the Sea in 76. Happened to be talking to a couple of their staff members and noticed they had a few holes. Next thing I knew, Me, a mellophone player finished out the season with them carrying contra. Apparently they left home with a small corps and just about every stop on tour picked up new members. It would have been really interesting to see where we would have finished in Philly that year if the whole corps had been together for a solid month. It was one of the best "Half Summers" of my entire Drum Corps career.
  3. One of my All Time Favorites!! First time I saw them that year was at DCI North in Ypsilanti(anybody remember Rynearson Stadium?) They went on early in the day in prelims, before the finalist block. I remember telling people how they would blow them away, nobody believed me until they knocked of several bigger corps and made finals. I still listen to that show alot. One tough, hardcore balls to the wall old school Drum Corps!!
  4. Just ran across this while searching the archives.....This photo is not of the 82 Glassmen, but of the 79 corps( first year back after several inactive seasons) It was taken after a rainy parade in Continental Ohio. I know this for certain because, although I hate to admit it, that would be me,top row, third from the left
  5. Warhawk Stadium....University of Wisconsin-Whitewater,Whitewater Wisconsin. The Birthplace of DCI,and for those of us who marched there BITD, the most hallowed ground of our activity!
  6. That double white stripe made the slightest M&M execution error stick out like a neon sign! My Favorite classic SCV uniform!
  7. 50 years old and I still have a permanent mark in the center of my back from the little piece of steel that stuck out of that D*** thing!
  8. This one may be just for early/mid 70's Glassmen.......The Interval Stick (HI Chuck!)
  9. Considering that the statute of limitations has expired........ Waaayyy back in the day(early 70's), In my anonymous Corps, it was a huge deal if we were ever to stay in a motel(usually only for State championships or long trips). On those rare occasions, it never failed that a certain member of our drum line (a poster here!) (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! !) and his girlfriend at the time, would be seen carrying lamps, sheets, etc across the parking lot towards the busses just as we were ready to pull out. I clearly remember a motel manager running after the busses as we were leaving. Nothing like an LK motel end table in the aisle for a card table!
  10. I'm back after being gone for a while, and I think I just had a tear in my eye.
  11. One of our resident historians can probably check on this for me, but I remember in 73 or 74 there was a merger of Wisc. corps that resulted in a corps called "The Thing" (I may be way off base, but if memory serves me correctly, they morphed into Pioneer). The corps was huge! I remember being in front of them in a parade, and they had about 30 rifles! The corps was obviously WELL over 128. Anyone else out there remember "The Thing"?
  12. Wow! Tough call here, it's rally hard to compare some years to others. In the end, I have to give the nod to those Sandra Opie Argonne lines. Listening to those shows today sounds as if they were recorded yeasterday.
  13. Just wanted to tell everybody that, after 6 very trying months.................... I'M BAAAAAAAAACCCKK!!!! Look forward to argueing I mean conversing with everybody again!
  14. Two All-Girl Corps actually........The Vacationland Sweethearts from Sandusky, and the Eaglettes from Port Clinton.
  15. This performance is the one that I'm looking forward to the most this year!! GO MADISON!!
  16. Go Steve! It should be a good show! (plus some bonuses due to the Glassmen's 45th anniversiary)
  17. Having had the pleasure of watching the corps in rehearsal last Saturday at the Glass Bowl (in uniform), and also seeing them at Family Day on Sunday, I can say that the sheild works ALOT better than last year (IMHO of course!) and the gaunlets look great. By the way.....although it definately needs cleaning, the show is great this year, and will probably suprise alot of people. I don't think anyone will be able to accuse the corps being "boring" this year! Exciting show with a few suprises thrown in! Looking forward to a great season from the corps......Good Luck Gmen! (not that I'm biased or anything! :) )
  18. Dam### G, quit stealing all my good lines, would ya?! :P
