  1. if it is true, w/r/t if they try to re-emerge as another org wit ties to the previous org...i was discussing this with my fellow educators, how does this rumoured threat to litigate against a new organization get around 'res judicata'. Just getting into t he weeds here, i guess thats why i teach instead of practice.

  3. 1983 1985 (doesnt get enough love, its a top 10 all time of any corps) 1987 first time I saw dci live, in person 1990 1992 1993 1995 1997 2000 2003 2009 2010 2011 -- That drill after the ballad was a masterpiece
  4. Ol Kingston Stadium, i remember it well. Not to mention the city of five smells, marching with Nite Express for 3 season you remember the smells from the Cargill, ADM, and the Quaker plant during rehearsals. it's been 30 years but still have a soft spot for that town.
  5. FWIW, That domain was created on 15 January, did a whois lookup because I'm still a nerd. Domain ownership, in this case, is "redacted for privacy".
  6. Le Sigh, no St louis area shows...i have no desire to drive to Kansas on a weekday, ditto with Oklahoma.
  7. I went in 2021 for the fist time in several years and yes it is a great time and very very entertaining. You will be as entertained and wow'd as you would with DCI Championship week.
  8. I'm am ex paramedic and ex FF rescue squad medic, learning basic ALS (Advanced Life Support) helps 1st responders save lives. Highly recommend CPR, AED, First Aid (cuts, bleeding, etc)
  9. The proceeds from my extra St Louis City vs SKC playoff tickets will reload my fun money account to buy some.
  10. I have been perusing a local record store to get classic vinyl, got a record player to restore 3 years ago and broke out the soldering iron. I purchased the regiment LP's and am searching for old DCI finals LP's as much as my budget can handle.
  11. I truly believe a good Sr. Project Manager, or a Program Manager with budget experience, could run a corps. Hire a business analyst and bring in department heads to run the business side. Especially someone with a PMP, some good PgM's run projects with budgets of millions of dollars.
  12. Not necessarily, and the lodging costs would increase…as someone in the know educated me, they pay at cost for the use of a school including admin, security, utilities. It’s no longer cheap or free.
  13. I've heard on a podcast, in the not too distant past, that corps are missing out on a potential opportunity by monetizing musical & visual instruction to individuals and schools...at a minimum
  14. Transportation, gas, food, lodging, travel was around 45%
  15. Someone on the Drum Corps Coffe Shop posted SOA’s 2023 budget allocation…only 2.6% went to show production (assuming costumes, props, instruments)…the issue is absolutely not props, electronics, costumes
  16. I'm not going to get in a titfortat but the price of fuel, food, insurance, housing has made the traditional tour unsustainable. I dont have the answers, but the causes are right in front of us
  17. All the expletives... In languages living and dead 🤬🤬🤬
  18. I have mentioned this many many many times over the last several years. Every corps needs a compliance officer that has no affiliation to the corps they are hired. The direct contact to the MM's if something is feeling wrong or is wrong. with direct contact with the director and the DCI whistleblower department. Also the compliance officer should have freedom to engage law enforcement or local authroties when needed.
  19. yes, the incident in 2021 that caused them to be suspended by DCI and subsequently took 2022 off to re-organize. This is an initial filing and no docs have been uploaded. They need to be served to the defendant parties before they are uploaded for public view, depending on the procedures of the Gwinnett County Courts. In time we will all have the details of the suit to read
  20. Looks like it is just an initial filing, no documents have been uploaded or are available yet.
  21. i like bringing someone from outside the activity, fresh set of eyes are a good thing. Goven the last several years of issues, the organization needs someone outside of the "establishment". No biases.
  22. MLS Owners want their clubs playing on natural grass, it attracts top talent to play for that club. With Messi playing MLS, hes starting to attract players to finish their careers in the US and most do not want to play on artificial turf, additionally FIFA will not play on artificial turf so thats fat revenue they could miss out on.
  23. They did a 3 year renovation where they had to play in a smaller stadium to implement this change and a roof addition. TBH it is a cool way to keep the pitch in world class condition, however i'll bet the cost is in the 200-300 MIllion range and knowing NFL owners, they'd pass the cost to the ticket holders. I just thought that NFL stadiums could have 1 NFL field, 1 marching arts field, 1 soccer pitch in a perfect world. Especially BofA Stadium (Charlotte), Met Life Stadium, Gillette Stadium, Mercedes Benz Stadium...any NFL stadium that also hosts an MLS Club
