  1. Seven PAGES of new posts in the past day and only a single post that is on-topic (listing a staff change). Where are the moderators when we need them?
  2. Yeah, maybe moderators should delete this thread and we can start over. At this rate we will have 87 pages in this thread and only four actual announcements.
  3. US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis Much better acoustics for marching bands and drum corps than LOS Stadium and facilities staff is easy to work with - they host the Youth in Music Marching Band Championships every year and there is usually a home Vikings game the next day. That facilities team is easy to work with and they know how to turn around a facility overnight. Schools in MN don't start until AFTER Labor Day, so finding housing and rehearsal facilities at local schools should be easier. Northern location = not nearly as hot and humid in August LOTS to do in and around the Twin Cities. And Duluth and the North Shore are an easy day trip.
  4. What if DCI tried an experiment for one year. A mandated show theme that all corps must interpret. Kind of like they do with floats in the Rose Parade. I would love to see how all corps would interpret a common topic. What risks? Many units might sound and look similar. Thoughts?
  5. What does it say about DCI, SOA and the activity at-large when young adults who are the victims in these situations are the ones being the most transparent and honest? McKenzee - I can't imagine the mental roller coaster you have been forced to ride. It is not fair and I admire your strength and courage.
  6. Do you realize what you just said is a textbook example of "blame the victim?"
  7. And credit where credit is due. Trevor Horn was Seal's producer and he always does great work.
  8. Geneseo Knights - Opener in 1986 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5kQA4PdzR4&list=PL4yun01k-TQ8hOJdnqCkL0gvNfJigPmkZ&index=7
  9. I think it’s still too early to even discuss. I know local winter colorguard and percussion circuits are struggling with their winter schedules. The common thread from school administration and activities directors is that they need to get through the fall season first. Then they will move on to winter and spring. Any discussions about outside groups needing or wanting access next summer aren’t on anyone’s radar right now.
  10. Also, with more and more states moving football to the spring, that has the potential to move marching band to the spring, too How many schools can have a marching band AND winter percussion and/or winter guard going on simultaneously?
  11. And lest we all forget, Larry Mills, the Co-President of Tresona is now on the board of directors at YEA (Cadets). Strange bedfellows indeed.
  12. This is good news, and has the potential to be HUGE in the marching arts. Permission to Arrange SHOULD be a lot easier and a lot cheaper as a result.
  13. The acoustics in US Bank Stadium (Vikings - Minneapolis) are actually pretty good for the marching arts. There is a huge marching band competition there every October. As far as sun goes, the light coming in the huge vertical opening panels doesn't really spill directly onto the field. It just lights up the concourse. And the diffused ceiling panels over the the turf make the entire stadium very bright during the day, but it's dispersed and no real glare. And schools in MN don't start until after Labor Day so in theory, it should be easier to secure housing for all of the corps.
  14. Check this out starting at the 3:20 mark... https://www.techspot.com/article/1757-computer-controlled-christmas-lights/
  15. Actually been here for a long time, and one of the "originals" on RAMD back in the early and mid 90s.
  16. Can we delete this thread and start a new one? With actual posts about staff comings and goings? This is now 21 pages of off-topic rubbish.
  17. This! If found the quality of streams earlier in the season to be very good. But as the shows got larger, and the online audience increased at the end of the season, the quality got progressively worse. Semi-Finals and Finals feeds were almost unwatchable. I highly doubt everyone's individual internet connections or ISPs changed anything over the past few weeks on "the last mile." These problems are 100% with Flo and the equipment and capacity at the source.
  18. UGH! Hey FloMarching, get rid of the huge graphic in the lower left corner of the MultiCam feed!
  19. Individual corps are responsible for securing permission to arrange and perform, and any associated fees. These are usually simpler and cheaper to obtain than sync licenses required for DVDs. DCI is responsible for securing the sync license and paying any fees/royalties associated with those DVDs.
