  1. Well you can understand where the personal frustration lies then. This activity is very personal and there's not many writers (for Crossmen) that have never shown up (a single camp doesn't count, either). So the image of an outside guy writing the music, taking the money, and never showing up creates a sour taste in the members' mouth. If nothing else, simply because that hasn't been the case before Guidry got there. It comes off as Guidry not taking a personal interest in the members' personal investment; not kosher, especially in a non-finalist corps. Couple that with the fact that his arrangements haven't fared to well, year after year after year, and that's plenty to warrant the current view of him from the members.
  2. Shane: of the years you marched, did the arranger ever show up in person and work with the corps?
  3. this "working together" seems to have come from BOA ... and certainly we would all realize that BOA is a completely different entity than DCI and should be treated as such hence why guidry's arrangements have not carried over into our beloved activity
  4. his involvement and making finals are inversely related
  5. I think a corps paying as close attention to INTONATION and a uniformed sound quality is quite refreshing. While Crown does play in tune and balls loud, the Cavies tend to be on a higher intonation level at the sacrifice of some volume. (But doesn't greater intonation help project anyway?) I did notice this year that Cavies were starting to push out into the edgier sound category. And if they can play louder and still retain their knack for superb intonation, I think we'll see a shift in some opinions...
  6. ding ding ding start stretching with some regularity and cardio is the key ... the fat will roll off by itself, but endurance is what you need
  7. Yes thank you ... we got that part under control
  8. uhhh ... how do you figure? i sat just above the judges for semis and their bari/euph sound was NOWHERE near the same presence as the past few years (nothing to do with quality of sound) i believe there was even a thread on it before...
  9. come on people this cannot be the totality of the DCP community's judge tape library i REFUSE to believe it!!
  10. i hope you mean that in a good "sick" kind of way
  11. the steel drum really added an awesome feel and texture
  12. OK but that wouldn't explain nearly ALL WC corps using euphs ... not all are bad (prototypes will be, if you're referring to the Yamaha in your time)
  13. Inspired by all these drumline top 10's ... seeing how that's what i mostly have in judges tapes, I thought I'd start a thread that catalogues WHO has WHAT my are all perc perf 93 Star 98 SCV 99 BD 00 Cavies (quarters i believe) 03 BD, Cavies, Cadets, SCV, Phantom 04 BD, Cavies, Cadets, SCV what's out there in the community?
  14. Of the corps I saw, I only noticed Boston didn't have them and I'm curious as to why (hopefully by somebody who has an inside understanding). Not that their bari's didn't hold their own because they certainly did... is it a sound they're going for? issue with the instrument company? any other corps not use them? I marched it back in my day, and it's one of those things where once you have it, you never want to go back...
  15. or maybe that voicing an issue/idea on here is a good way to gauge the community's general opinion on it and like soccerguy said, if enough customers have the same gripe, it should be addressed besides, i really don't think a member has come on here and destroyed the entire corps as a whole ... its usually a staff member or design choice this activity is not North Korea, there ARE truths and opinions that should be heard ... both good and bad
  16. lest we forget that Yozviak actually showed up to crossmen rehearsals there's no substitute for a genuine interest in a program beyond a paycheck
  17. performance was good?! haha ... i wish i lived in your parallel universe
