  1. i would give you 3 months on your own to come up with a better arrangement don't let the (lack of) performance quality distract you
  2. guidry's had 3 years to figure it out if the 3rd time is supposed to be the charm, then...
  3. except for the part about having guidry in the equation at all their arranger in 06 seemed to have his stuff together, just the program didn't and the drill didn't work for the members ... go back to him or is Naffier still on the market?
  4. i could've used a little more mid boost for the baritones and trumpets down ... in general
  5. yeah, i recognized those ... not quite what i was referring to
  6. not to take anything away from him but... does anybody else notice how much he recycles his stuff? when i watched the cadets ending this year (with no reason to hate on it) i just felt like i'd seen it all before...
  7. Well I said the same thing finals night, but that's a whole different thread...
  8. its just one of the "Get the Feeling" segs ... about 1:30 long and basically follows the end snare drummer for the last part of their show
  9. pit needs to take their notes out of the ballad hit ... it really takes away from the hornline's melodies let them do the shaping with the aux stuff
  10. yeah, vis ensemble and the pit didn't come out to play tonight but otherwise, definitely a better show tonight
  11. YES JARVIS ... consistently great solo night to night
  12. that's what we thought last year too so, what happens when BD gets beaten by 0.025 in finals again this year?
  13. Just listened after reading this thread, and I agree 100%. NOBODY is going to read the show like he says, nor should they. The corps is doing the activity, the designers are living some WGI wet dream. NOT bashing the kids ... just the people for letting the concept taken down this road and to this extreme. It's just not fun. The bluecoats of the past presented a concept/theme without needing liner notes to make sense. Shows like "Escape" were GREAT. THAT's what we want ... and it's not like that show was a throw-away, either. BUT I agree with what was said above, the kids are performing the HECK out of it!
  14. It's not that bad. You have a credibility for not being a member in the hornline that can't keep time.
  15. Bingo. Words are one thing for fun and games, but its the small things like this that make you slightly less bitter day to day. I'm glad to find out that the "Switzerland" designation applies across other corps.
  16. I'm glad you said it. Didn't live up to the hype for me either. Logistics counts as a part of all these memories (hence the immense hatred of Gillette) and Camp Randall wasn't ideal either--not Gillette bad, though. I'm not sure what Indy's like, but in the rotational time of Finals Invesco field (ca. 2004) is hard to beat for the compete package.
  17. nailed it on all 3 too much hype for the rose bowl ... its a pretty crummy and dirty place considering the high regard people give it
  18. people People PEOPLE there is only 1 rule here! Once you use a section from a corp in a given year (ie BD 2004), you CAN'T use a 2nd section from that SAME corps.
  19. If you could have one "million dollar" drum corps made of the best sections (IYHO), who would you choose? Only catch is, you can't use more than one section from a corps in the same year. (ie can't have both Pioneer Guard and Tubas from 2005) Format is as follows: Trumpets/Sops: Cavies 2002 Mellos: Cadets 1998 Baris/Euphs: BD 2000 Tubas/Contras: PR 2003 Snares: Star 1993 Tenors: SCV 1992 Basses: BD 2003 Pit: SCV 2004 Guard: Crown 2007 Drum Major: PR 1997 Pick away!
