  1. Actually, you should check out the Yamaha Percussion Instruments Facebook page.....
  2. all 4 and Feel Your Boobies However, there is a group out there with over 1700 votes already. Probably 1800 by now. Cavaliers are almost to 1100. Get everyone you know to vote for the corps!!
  3. I do think the term "pre-show" is more accurate, because it really is setting the tone and setting up a blank canvas for the show. This is great, especially if a corps goes on after another, or after an intermission. However, they are not always done well, which can hurt a corp before they even start...
  4. Depends on what you want and how good you are. My advice would be to check out the Jersey Surf based out of Camden County, NJ. A lot of students from Towson University have marched there, including myself. They're world class now, but still are only weekends, so it would be a good way to get yourself used to the drum corps life. If you want something more intense, I know plenty of high school students who have marched with The Cadets, also based out of New Jersey, the Bluecoats, and some in Carolina Crown. Where do you go? There's resources in the baltimore area for people to talk to if you're interested.
  5. I've noticed over the years that every now and then a drum corps will end the show with a slow, reflective, or "tag" esque feel. I'm talking shows like Cavies 03, BD 04, Blue Stars 08. I've been a part of organizations that have done both the quiet ending and the park and blow ending, and personally I like a subtle ending every now and then. Which ones do you know of or are your favorites, and why do they work or not work?
  6. I don't think I "burned a bridge" when I left Surf. However, after being on tour all summer and realizing the benefits of a full tour, I don't think that I could go back to weekends only. I don't mean this to sound arrogant, it was just way more expensive and harder on my car to drive to Jersey every weekend from Maryland due to gas and food than it was to just be away on a bus.
  7. Yeah, the blue stars are currently full. I contacted them immediately, but I was still too late.
  8. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation. I created this thread to give anyone that knows of any openings in World Class corps the opportunity to help some of us who want to march out. That means members, friends of people, corps directors, caption heads, techs, whoever. I auditioned at the Cadets this year, and was the 10th man of 9 when I was cut at the February camp. I performed in the Inaugural Parade with the corps. My previous experience includes: Blue Stars 08 - snare United Percussion - 07 - snare, 09 - snare captain Jersey Surf 06, 07 - snare, 05 - cymbals Towson University marching band 06, 07, 08 - snare, drum captain Baltimore's Marching Ravens 03, 04 - snare I need to march this summer. Feel free to post your information if you're in the same situation. Please let us know of openings. Thanks! Kris

  10. I found out George Carlin before the Atlanta regional i think...i really liked his stuff, i was bummed. i think half the things on here i just found out about because i've been marching since 05, hahaha
  11. I was on the field in 2008 when they were about the announce 2nd place. You could feel the stadium shaking. Our caption head (who taught star '93) came up from behind the line and said "Take this in, boys. This doesn't happen. Ever."
  12. quite possibly the stupidest thread i've ever read. did you actually take time to average the scores?
