  1. Can someone point me to a good break down of the show? I’ve looked and have not seen one really dissecting the show. Much thanks in advance!
  2. Second half of the show was wonderful! Mind you, my seats were right up against the field (as intended…BLOW MY FACE OFF!) so I didn’t get a very good visual read of the shows. Pacific Crest- My home team came out looking amazing! The white unis with the pop of gold looks really nice when corps proper. I love the musical selections and their line has some great moments. There were some front to back and side to side timing issues that caught me off guard. I look forward to hearing this show grow and come together!! Academy- lots of color on the field and I like it! The theme is pretty clear with the darker colors leading into the light. Some great hits and articulation in the first half of the show. The final movement needs some tlc but we are still in the first weekend of performances, it will be fleshed out in time! I love this ballad a ton!! Mandarin- This show has all the bells and whistles we’ve become accustomed to, but this show design and musical selections are just so engaging and they are playing the hell out of it! The energy coming from the performers is electric and all I can say is I WANT MORE!! This corps is going to make a name for themselves this year! Blue Devils- What can I say. They are playing well, they are dancing well, and I can’t wait to see it again. This performance may very well be my favorite Blue Devils show of all time. My father and I are still in awe of that performance and if you have the chance to see it, you definitely should! Holy crap! WOWOWOW!!! Okay, a long drive back to Los Angeles! Have a wonderful night everyone!
  3. The concessions…don’t get me started! They have Slim Jim’s, Chips, Water, and Gatorade. A little let down in that category! I know I’ll at least have a beer in my hand at the Rose Bowl!
  4. Of the corps I was able to see: Vessel- just caught them from the concession stand so not much to report. Blue Devils C- Very entertaining music and props. A ton of quality solos throughout the show! The age range is dramatic this year but they are having a ton of fun! Gold- This was the first big/full sound of the night. They have a wonderful look on the field and some interesting stage/props they move and manipulate throughout the show. The middle/low brass had some wonderful moments and I want more! Blue Devils B- Very impressive show from start to finish! I love the flash of yellow on the arms and the lapel, it is very effective when they move quickly. They have a clean and crisp sound with some great attacks! There was a snare drummer without their drum for the second half of the show, I didn’t see what happened but they were air drumming with the best of them! i can see both the Gold and Blue Devils B corps doing well in Indy!
  5. I’m here at the show! currently suffering through this 55 minute intermission…
  6. Who would ever think to judge one corps against another? I would hope there isn’t a thread specifically dedicated to giving their personal opinions on the outcome of the entire season based on nothing more than bias, wishes, and prayers! *Looks at the thread just under this one* oh shucks…
  7. And ALL OF US are reading your posts asking ourselves “what is this guy watching?” You are wearing a different shade of glasses and have very poor hearing aids, my friend.
  8. Best corps to come out of PC in a while! Design, staff, to the MM. All are killing it this year! Proud alum for sure!
  9. I sadly have not been able to find anything on this. If you have a source, might you send it my way!
  10. I'm intrigued by the Crown design, it's a classic cut, but has a new/modern flare! Can't wait to see the full corps from the box!
  11. I have taken a few listens to the source music just now, and I'm so excited to hear this live! Here are my takes on each piece: Frolic sounds like it will be fun! It has moments with a very "french" vibe ala Darius Milhaud. This is one of my favorite Elfman scores of all time, so I doubt they will disappoint with their treatment of this piece. Gabriel's Oboe will stun, as I know how Klesch will make it ooze with emotion! Bucimis is just plain fun, would love to play and march this! It is asking for some back and forth from percussion to brass with a splash of color from a unison flag section! (What I'm seeing in my head at least!) Dark Clouds is full of impact. Long sustain integrated with a catchy melody! I keep catching myself airing the rhythm! I cannot wait for this show to finally be out in the open for us to dissect, and even more eager for its evolution over the course of the summer!
  12. I don't think I saw a post about the 1999 Blue Devils performance in Concorde. The show was performed mid ballad to the end in complete darkness! The city lost power, and the crowd just went crazy! We were on our feet for the remainder of the performance. It was one of the better early season shows I've ever been to!
  13. I'm sad that I don't see any of this merch on their website
  14. With it being the first show, I assume we'll be seeing some Pariscopers at the show! There will be avenues available that evening to see the show, I'm sure of it!
  15. The Crown Jewel page stated donors will receive a "video" of the Preview performance, but nothing is stated about a live feed.
  16. I remember a year, where they came out with purple pants, and I read terrible things about the corps as a whole, before anyone knew the brilliance they would see and hear just a week from that first look at the uniform. We are talking about a very poorly taken picture of an under tailored unicostiform. Can we be a community of fans and judge after we’ve seen the ENTIRE package, please?
  17. Perfectly said RetiredMusTeach. I've marched in a number of styles of uniform, and I am jealous of the flexibility these costumes provide to the MM.
