  1. I think 2003 is mentioned on here more than any other Scouts show after 1999. In a poll a couple of years ago, it was the only post-1999 Scouts show in the DCP Greatest 100 Drum Corps Shows of All Time at #100. I rank it about a tie with 2005. no yes 3. 1999 2. 1975 1. 1995
  2. Warning: Grumpy old man post Ten years ago, I would walk around all of the souvie trailers, pick my favorite 8-10 shirts and then try to decide which two to buy. Now, I walk around and often don't find ONE that I like. Also, I know they are trying to get us to buy more shirts but quit putting years (and show themes) on drum corps shirts! Godfather Part Blue was an awesome shirt but I don't want to wear it this year.
  3. I have been wondering about the Countdown since last years DCP poll of the 100 greatest performances. If they only take 2 from the 2000s again, either DCI is going to have to finagle the vote or someone big is going to get left out. According to the DCP poll (excluding previous winners) it is the Cavaliers. 2. Madison Scouts 1995 8. Blue Devils 1994 9. Phantom Regiment 2003 11. Cadets 2005 18. Santa Clara Vanguard 1988 26. Star of Indiana 1990 44. Muchachos 1975 53. Bridgemen 1977 54. 27th Lancers 1981 70. Suncoast Sound 1985 74. Blue Knights 1999 78. Velvet Knights 1985 DCP Greatest 100 Drum Corps Shows of All Time The Cavaliers barely miss, coming in one spot behind 2005 Cadets BUT what if this played out? What would DCI do?
  4. I have always admired some of the small unique things that their guard does. Where did the previous caption head go?
  5. I thought a LOT of the corps really raised the level of the encore repertoires this year (and yes, PR was probably the best). I hope the Cavies work on something a little better this year.
  6. You joke but if I won, I would LOVE to get a shirt that said that! Who's going to know that your award shirt is more special that the one some Jr. High kid bought at a show. I nomiate Galen/Matt as The Cadets "award shirt" designer!
  7. I have thought about this a lot. I just can't miss local shows going on without being there. Last year I had seen every top twelve except Carolina Crown. At semis Crown's performance gave me 11 minutes of goose bumps. All of the finalist corps get so good that last week but sometime our familiarity with the shows lessens the experience. I CAN think of two examples of shows that I saw early and didn't like but I got the same thrill at championships as CC this year. PR 2003 is probably universal. I just didn't remember that show at all from seeing it earlier in the season. It's one of my all-time favorites from those last three performances. Also, SCV 2004 really improved. I HATED Scheherazade in San Antonio but after seeing it at quarters, I kept pulling for them to place higher.
  8. A kid from Texas gets into Harvard. He is searching for his dorm when he gets to campus. He asks a professor that he sees walking by, “Excuse me sir, may I ask where Wigglesworth Hall is at?” The professor replies, “We at Harvard do not end our sentences in prepositions. Perhaps you would like to restate your question.” The kid says, “O.K…may I ask where Wigglesworth Hall is at ###-H0LE?”
  9. I got one from the crown store last year.
  10. Read again: DCI Eastern Classic J. Birney Crum Stadium Allentown, Pa. Saturday & Sunday, July 7 & 8
  11. Great post! I was deciding between PR ‘03, BAC ’00, SCV ’99, MS ’99, MS ’95, Star ’91, SCV ’89, Cadet ’84, SCV ’79 and MS ’75 but then I read yours and I was reminded that my #1 is yet to come. I have #2, my son announced his intentions a little later that yours(at age 11). I hope that “contract” announcement comes this year!

  14. I guess that's why Chris rejected my design. Too much?
  15. I find Weep No More by David Childs so emotional and haunting. It's repetitve but arranged correctly I think it would leave a crowd breathless. listen here You want to listen to the ending.
  16. What are you talking about, the judges are the same?
  17. Listen to new Crossmen on the Alamo tour HERE.
  18. They just didn't need them, the show stood on its on very well. I sat next to a members parents in Foxboro and they said the kids were soooo happy when the decision was made to give up on them.
  19. In San Antonio, they might turn down the side but it would look more like this: There is much more Latin influence than Cowboy. :) :)
  20. Please don't blame Texas for him. I hope he is not from Cowtown!
